If only we could find a couple of batsmen able to defend the moving ball longer than 4 overs, we'd have a decent Test team. Not sure Leach counts, and Roy could have been out 5 or 6 times before he flipped back into one-day mode and accelerated. It's going to be a recurringly painful Ashes series, I fear.

As an aside, I have always thought that if you want to see the likelihood of something happening look at the people who have skin in the game (the bookies). I often keep up to date with scores on cricinfo, where they display odds on the game from Bet365. Yesterday mid England second innings they were offering England 1/6 to win.

For an international captain to cheat in such a blatant fashion is repugnant, to coerce a youngster who is just starting out in life to do the dirty work for you is unforgivable.

Oh Come On, both sides are at it, it's just varying degrees! 30/12/2017 "The fourth Ashes test took another dramatic twist on Friday, when the England team were accused of ball-tampering - less than 24 hours after the series erupted over the fairness of an Australian catch.England were warned by the on-field umpires over excessive treatment of the new ball, after Channel 9 cameras caught England star James Anderson digging his nail into a cut-up section of leather in vision that some cricket fans believe to be a clear case of ball-tampering."SOURCE: www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11967315

And if we started banning cricketers for stupidity we'd not be left with much! Sandpaper gate did reveal Cricket Australia for what it is, "arrogant" and "controlling" (Chairman resigned as did Mark Taylor). I'm not sure if it was touted at the time but IMO there was an argument for banning the Aussies for a series or two or even the World Cup (in the event we thrashed you anyway ozboy - sounds a little hollow on a day like today ). I suspect the banned three were covering up for more widespread skulduggery. No surprise then that Warner took the rap for ringleader and life ban from leadership roles, leaving Smith free to lead after a year (although it appears Smith was conveniently fielding at slip within earshot of the captain behind the wicket during this Test?). agent69 - I'd reserve life bans for match fixing, a much bigger issue for cricket.

I suspect the banned three were covering up for more widespread skulduggery. I always thought that Darren Lehman got off lightly. As soon as the TV cameras picked up the skulduggery Lehman was straight on the radio to the 12th man who was straight onto the pitch to tell Bancroft he had been rumbled.
Cricket Australia cleared him of any blame.

Finest Test innings ever, made sweeter by the Aussies chucking away their last review 😂
