Actually not quite true IMO. Blair was reasonably socially responsible. He could almost have sat in any of the 3 biggest parties. ... Isn't that what agent69 was saying ? The 'they' refers to the core, or at least current' labour party membership. Who mostly hate Blair with a vengenance. Labour is naturally the perennial party of opposition: that core prize idealistic purity over electability. Couldn't have put it better myself.
And as if the Labour party don't have enough baggage at present, former traitor speaker John Bercow has joined them.

I'm not particularly politically motivated, but I do wonder why such a large section of the Labour party can't understand that the only time they were electable over the last 40 years is when they were led by a man who's policies they all detest. Actually not quite true IMO. Blair was reasonably socially responsible. He could almost have sat in any of the 3 biggest parties. Other than his blind fondness for following the americans at every turn, I'd rather him than Cameron any day. Conservative, Labour, Scottish Nationalist, Based on number of MPs, Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Based on number of votes at last general election in the UK Brexit, Liberal Democrat, Labour, Based on number of votes in last European election When the Conservatives hold councils such as North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, Labour are in trouble.

When did we last have a functional government? Which is precisely why we need a functional opposition as much as, if not more than, ever... Things could be worse. We could be ruled by the DUP.

Things could be worse. We could be ruled by the DUP.Just as a reminder, we were after the GE called by May. There was a great Dear Ringers sketch about that, after May made the billion pound bung to the DUP for their support. She sits down to meal in a restaurant: "What would you like to order, Arlene?" "I want the lobster" "And champagne!" You need to read that in an Ulster accent for full comedic effect.

I hadn't realised just how low labours vote was at just 1.6%.
But then had to laugh at one commentator saying "but the labour party in Chesham only has 600 members" I imagine the Lib Dems and Conservatives got more votes than they have members.
