At the beginning of the week i was happy about a cricket player (Azeem Rafiq) breaking out and calling the cricket establishments bluff... what i have seen since about past comments from Azeem Rafiq have pretty much convinced me its not one way.

Absolutely not one-way , friend who worked in motor transport garage had Polish co worker promoted to boss, absolutley deservedly he said .However within 2 years all the english workers had gone and all replaced with Polish mechanics. At this stage only Polish was spoken and he was told to resign or be ignored and isolated until he gave up. He left and a Polish guy was employed. If you want to see anti black sentiments look into the indian/ asian community. The contempt shown by the asian men to white young vulnerable girls they trafficked in the north ,seen as worthless trash as all english girls were sluts and easy. Not to say white groups are any better, had to spend a 3hr drive with a white supremacist, who informed me that the holocaust was a Jewish lie and non white people were a sub species to be sterilized but well treated for the good of humanity until they disappeared. Am i perfect, far from, but i am better than my parents, trying to hold myself to better standards and i am proud to say my daughter and friend's are light years better than me.

Who ever said it was one-way?
They lied.
That doesn't give anybody carte blanche* for anything...

From personal experience
the 2 most racist people I ever met were a Dutch lady and an Indian
The Dutch lady was anti anyone not creamy white, or LGBTQ+ so much so she cut off contact with her niece because she preferred her own sex. Living in the UK I found it funny to hear her talk about "all the bloody foreigners" considering she was one !
The Indian guy looked down on anyone from the sub continent who wasn't Indian, ( Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Afghans), he also professed a hatred of Sikhs who he claimed were parasites, and anyone he perceived as lower class than himself. he insisted they addressed him as sahib, even though within the company they ranked equally. He would refer to them as dirty, smelly, animals the way he spoke was unacceptable and was reported to management by white British staff as those he bullied were terrified of him, even when management challenged him he didn't see it was a problem and had to be let go.

Of course it’s not one way, and being a victim doesn't necessarily make you a better person as witnessed by the two black women, wearing BLM T-Shirts, who verbally abused and harassed my wife whilst we were shopping in Iceland over the fact that they held her personally responsible for Covid-19 and the Covid-19 restrictions due to them misidentifying her as Chinese.
Similar to Keitha's comment, the most intolerant person I have ever met was an Indian uncle, who professed himself anti-racist and inclusive due to his Hindu relgion but in almost the same sentance would spew the most extreme religious, sexist and racist bigotry you could imagine. Particulary about non-indians from the indian subcontinent.

We are all guilty and we can all do better. Not all of us, me and a mate one night in the pub had a chat regarding this he came to a decision that he disliked everyone else in the world, me included especially when I pointed out it was his round, equally so therefore he couldn't be racist or any other ist except maybe narcissist. This did change when I mentioned Arsenal fans and then his dislike for them more than anyone else came out.

As an Arsenal fan, and given their current performance, please let your mate know that I am fully in support of his misanthropy.

No it certainly isn't one way, the perception comes from the fact that in most of the UK/USA it's white people that have the power so most of the time racism is white people being unpleasant to people of colour. Azeem Rafiq is clearly not the nicest of chaps, but he's been the victim a lot more than he's been in a position to dish it out. As others above have said, let's ALL stop dishing it out and try to get on with each other.

I discriminate without feeling guilt . Why should you? You choose who and what you wish, if you can. HOWEVER People should always address others with respect and politeness. Teach your children well and ensure they do the same.

Teach your children well and ensure they do the same. Agreed. Lessons lost, though, on the bomber outside the Liverpool Women's Hospital, and the ruthless assailant of Sir David Amess MP whose funeral was conducted today. It's scary to think... how many more sharing this mindset arrive every day by dinghy? Half a mind towards self-preservation is perfectly understandable when we know plenty walk amongst us now who wish us dead. Luckily that taxi driver was discriminating enough to prevent an absolute outrage.

Lessons lost, though, on the bomber outside the Liverpool Women's Hospital What element of his outrage was down to his asylum claim having been denied repeatedly by the government's "hostile environment"? If our health service treated mental health properly, would he have got to a place where he was tempted to murder people? www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/emad-al-swealmeen-liverpool-bombing-b1958449.html...was born in Southwark. He was simply fortunate that the bomb didn't go off properly.

I'm sure you're not really an apologist for his outrageous behaviour. His asylum claim would have been denied for good reason. There are many failed asylum seekers and thousands of mental health cases out there. By and large they don't resort to indiscriminate bombing of the innocent. His act was clearly premeditated... and evil in the extreme.

His asylum claim would have been denied for good reason. You have far more faith in the Home Office than I do.
