Adele Allen says: “Unfortunately we don’t earn enough out of benefits to cover Christmas presents - that will have to come out of our own pockets.”you don't earn benefits the government pays them to you ! Where does she think the rest of us get our money for presents from child led parenting:- eldest child who is 11 often doesn't go to bed till midnight I wonder if they have declared their pallet upcycling business when they claimed benefits ... happy to say they didn't follow lockdown guidelines, and won't be getting vaccinated full story www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/17056876/kids-not-believe-santa-off-grid-adele-allen/

So presumably the kids have had no vaccines of any sort since birth? Wow, that's living on the edge alright. I do hope they remain healthy. The Santa guff I can go along with to a degree. When my daughter was old enough, I told her about this mush who climbs down the chimney with a sackful of presents for her. She replied, "But dad, we don't have a chimney" and "How is there enough time to get to all the children in the whole world?". Far too intelligent these days.

I have no stats to back this up but the feeling I get is that the poorer you are, the more likely you are to have children and more of them. Intelligent and well educated women are more likely to pursue careers at the expense of starting a family. Some (many?) at increasingly older age when it is physically harder to bear children and makes services like IVF more popular but those come with their own risks.

This is an appreciation of society that has struck other writers and directors, originally in a 1950s science fiction story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marching_MoronsStill in print! I have a copy- highly recommended! blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/9781515404897

Ah, I've discovered the real issue here... It's outrage-bait, and you've fallen straight into it. She probably doesn't really exist.

Fits with my gut feeling, Interestingly it appears to be the same group of parents happy to pull their kids out of school early, so the family Christmas isn't ruined by Covid, yet are happy that those same kids are roaming the streets with the same kids they'd be in school with. I have to say in places where I've lived over the last 25 years then another choice for many teenage girls is to have a baby, get benefits and a council property. I personally know families where a life on benefits is a lifestyle choice of 3 generations. This is not surprising as if the kids see mum and dad comfortable on benefits then they will see that as a viable alternative to working, then the next generation see both Parents and Grand parents on benefits.

Been on TV ( Good morning Britain, and Stacey Dooley sleeps over ) so real in my book. but does seem to feature in the papers a lot ( perhaps that's how they make money )

It all looks fine until the classic comment, 'Why should we work if we can live on benefits?'. Why should everyone else work to keep you on benefits? I don't understand how healthy people get away with not working and claiming benefits apparently just because they prefer a non-working lifestyle. I thought there were rules that prevented that.

Been on TV ( Good morning Britain, and Stacey Dooley sleeps over ) Good lord, you really do like scraping that barrel, don't you? Anyway, let's not forget... Absolute maximum benefit cap - £20,000 Full-time minimum wage (from April, 40hr week) - £19,760 (plus any in-work benefits - child benefit is £35/wk for two children) I don't understand how healthy people get away with not working and claiming benefits apparently just because they prefer a non-working lifestyle. I thought there were rules that prevented that. There are. They can't. They'd be sanctioned if they didn't at least pretend to be hunting for a job reasonably credibly.

Those absolute Caps are perfect to live on, I have three distant "family" members who, thanks to illnesses that are mental/unexplainable havn't worked in 20 years and live very pleasantly on that money. Ok they don't have holidays out of the country but very possible to live well, do a bit on the black and parasite off others. Things like houses and cars are gently transferred to other members of their trusted extended family.
Similarly I know people in my own community who have arranged accidents, back injuries etc that insurance companies pay up year after year allowing a life of ease.
I guess I'm glad they arn't working in local businesses and destroying them as well
