We tend to only associate the Halocaust with the extermination of 6 million Jews. But the Nazis also exterminated 250,000 to 500,000 Gipsies, plus homosexuals and disabled and mentally ill people which we fail to acknowledge. Does his joke, although in bad taste, raise an important point.

He might have had a point right up until the "punchline".

Does his joke, although in bad taste, raise an important point. I don't. I don't either. As a descendant of a gypsy mother it was clearly part of my education and I never needed to correct a teacher for forgetting the other groups who died. Note they also included opposition politicians and sabatours in occupied countries including Guernsey and Jersey. His joke was in bad taste if not frankly disgusting. I have only once had to correct a European for this error, who was brought up under a Russian influenced regime.
