the report says he was not just a bully but a serial bully.
Personally I always felt he had no real understanding that the speaker had to be impartial.
His comment that the report is amateurish and based on tittle tattle says a lot about him.
a comment I've just seen says he regards people telling the committee who wrote the report as "tittle tattling" for saying what he did to them, to me that just shows the contempt in which he held his and others staff. I think it also proves it was correct not to reward him with a knighthood.

The Independent Expert Panel said "his behaviour fell very far below that which the public has a right to expect" from an MP. It also said his evidence showed he had been "a serial liar".

I think he was generally impartial in his management of the house, and accusations of partiality were mostly fabricated by those who would have preferred partiality in their direction. I don't see whether or not he was partial as relevant to whether or not he (or anybody else) bullied staff, though.

I don't think he understood his job and thought he had some power. His real job was to keep order and made a right faff of that, the curtains, the pillows, the telling people what to do. Sounds like an office bully to me.

The independent expert appeal panel upheld all 21 findings, so it was a pretty clear and damning judgement. About time too, obnoxious little runt. Serial bully, serial liar. Mr Bercow's conduct "was so serious that, had he still been a Member of Parliament, we would have determined that he should be expelled by resolution of the House". By comparison, Sir Lindsay Hoyle seems a breath of fresh air, doing a great job.

Does the honours system not dictate that the normal sized (for a bercow) ex speaker automatically become a Lord regardless?

So far on this thread and in response to a different thread, we have had:
'Odious little man'
'obnoxious little runt' - this one, dare I say, being a touch tautological given the commonly accepted definition of 'runt'.
Perhaps those that are getting worked up about 'bullying' (and they should) might want to take a minute or two to reflect on their own (unconscious ?) use of language and why that is. I have no doubt that if Bercow had been 6' or 5'10" those phrases would not have been replaced with 'tall man' or 'obnoxious average size non-runt person'.
Perhaps consider if this is how one expresses feelings toward someone they don't like, how would that translate to values to ones children/grandchildren in the playground for example. The seeds for bullying are sowed in many places. But that between children - which is particularly nasty in its impacts - mostly has its roots from what they experience from the adults in their lives.

Obnoxious vertically-challenged runt didn't quite resonate, but point taken. Obnoxious runt it is. Or just obnoxious if preferred.

You need to use a spell checker, runt is a typo.

Perhaps therein lies the problem
when I was younger nicknames were given for various reasons
Chalky had a surname of White Dusty surname Miller Inky surname black
Slim was a chunky guy Shorty would be tall Lofty would be short Donkey ( Ill let you work that one out )
IMHO all of these were done in fun, but today would be frowned upon
interestingly even in the 70s we never referred to race of colour
Here in Wales we still get people given names to match occupations etc
Jones the milk, Jones the shop, so regular use of the last name with occupation. But also we have Doug the veg, mark the paper etc where using the first name makes it funny

He quickly got renamed Lenny L'Encre (well, it was a Grammar...), a name that's still in use 50 years later!
