"Not so. According to Wikipedia (yes not the bible of dictionaries but well respected and peer-reviewed)"
hilarious, peer-reviewed! Do you even know what that means? Wiki is a nice place to start but never a place to finish an argument as any editor can change it.
As an aside, it is worth noting that the UK have some of Europe's safest roads, and frankly if the BBC have a sneaky agenda to keep us all alive I am all for it.
Once again the Troll lobs an idea over the fence to see who will play with it. Don't feed trolls.
May I suggest Wikipedia is a far better and peer-reviewed source than someone called "Bobo" on the internet ?

Bobo is right though regarding Wikipedia, it's arguably a ressonable starting point, but it's far from being a reliable source of facts........

Is Bobo better than wiki?
Probably wiki is better for the vast majority of items. Bobo has edited a number of pages when he used wiki a lot. Generally Bobo uses better sources of information. So when Bobo thought he knows better than wiki he found he is right about 60% of the time.
I suggest using the Oxford online dictionary to discover the meaning of English words.

That's a bit strong, for what is a chat forum if not an area to raise discussion points and invite comment? Nothing compels anybody to react. You wouldn't cite Wikipedia in a journal paper, but for our discussions here it's generally quite sound.

Hang on a mo @bobo. I enjoy reading your posts, most of which I agree with, some I don't. When I don't that does not make me a troll. In my view michaelc is not a troll, he simply disagrees with many of your views, and on a forum such as this, he has every right to do so. It would make for an incredibly tedious read if we all agreed with each other all the time. Why not cut him a bit of slack, disagree with his posts if you want and leave it there without going down the "Troll" route?

I once worked for a safety-focused company, imagine safety-crazy and then think over the line.
Part of the induction was to watch a film about a study on the influence on driving skills of using a mobile phone, both hands free and holding
Both, yes both, had the same affect as being over the limit drunk.
We were banned from taking a call in the car and it was a disciplinary offence. Sensible people
The UK has a long history (something a born-citizen would know) of safety awareness training that many countries find slightly surprising.
In my last role I was mobile IT support. We as a team asked for hands free kits and were refused as they were "too expensive to install" in the company cars. We started putting the phone in the boot and only checking it when we had arrived on site.management actually threatened one of my colleagues with disciplinary action for not answering calls whilst travelling. the Union laughed at that it was a breach of Company Policy and the law to answer a call non hands free. Eventually we were supplied with hands free kits, but it was amazing how many calls still came through and people wanted us to"make a note of" some information, often getting snotty if we asked then to email the information. The best one was one manager who started ringing peoples personal mobiles if the company mobile was engaged, he got very short shrift from me on that and was told never to ring my personal mobile, when he continued to do so I blocked the office number. Very sensible. A police Class 1 driver once told me many otherwise excellent police drivers didn't reach that coveted standard and pass that difficult test solely because they couldn't cope properly with the high-paced radio interaction necessary during a pursuit. It takes a special skill to maintain full driving concentration with the distraction of a conversation going on, and not many people can do it. In his private driving off-duty, he never had music or the radio playing in the car. He maintained there is no place for it, being completely incompatible with 100% concentration. One of his lessons that has stuck with me. As an aside, I had to drive unmarked police vehicles at work from time to time and had to pass a separate police test to be allowed. Luckily it was a much lower standard than Class 1 😁.

In a thread about the importance of safety, I should being up the importance of the danger of negligent forklift truck driving. Here is an instructional video. It's old, but if you haven't seen it, it is one of the funniest things on the entire internet. Gabelstaplerfeuhrer Klaus:- youtu.be/_HKubtl4qxQ

You can't get much cleaner for German Nazi F**kers jokes than the Des O'Connor show.
