If you don't have a smart meter and are on the standard variable tariff today is a good day to submit readings.
I seriously expect a lot of website crashes tomorrow

British Gas sent me a specific link for submitting "changeover" readings for 30th/1st -- "and you don't even need to log in!", valid up to 14th October. Which seems to have worked ...
Good job, because having done that, I tried to log in to my account to do a check of "their idea of my notional credit level" (all payments, minus all billed, minus estimated per-day guesswork) -- can't access bills, payments, readings, anything.
Carefully crafted "Network error!" and "Database error!" etc. wherever you try and go. Oh well.

I have a feeling that SSE's director of IT will be getting sacked in the morning. Something horrendous has gone wrong with their Smart Meters overnight. Reports on social media of multiple customers showing ~£40k usage for one day at the new prices.

I never rely on the monetary figures from my IHD I use it for consumption only Apparently part of the problem is the different format different types of meter ( and firmware within a type ) store so meter A given 40 Will assume 40p Meter B Will assume £4.0. and soon. Could easily have been sorted by Milliband and civil servants specifying a format but they left that to the suppliers who all went different routes

On an EDF fix they told us a few days ago not to try to submit a reading, we don't need to but I wonder how many are trying to who don't need to.
