I'd be up for a split into 'economic chat' and 'other chat'.
Since, as some posters have noted, P2P does not exist in a vacuum. The threads on the chat forum such as the war in Ukraine, recent mini-budget, energy prices, Brexit - these all have MASSIVE impacts on the economic landscape and hence P2P generally.
Sure, these topics have a political element and can get a bit 'heated'. But they also have a genuine range of opinion, from which can be extracted a general sense of 'which way the wind is blowing'. There are also some genuinely knowledgeable posters on these threads.
So I've personally found these threads extremely useful.
As for the problem of P2P posts being drowned out by chat posts - this is also symptomatic of the decline of P2P itself (both due to platform failures and now poor risk/reward vs rising 'risk-free' rates), which is useful information too.

I'd be up for a split into 'economic chat' and 'other chat'. Define "economic"... A quick look down the list has an argument for probably three-quarters or more of the threads being related to the economy to some level.

There was a time when we forum-ites had Xmas socials paid for by platforms so we could "chat" over a drink..! The good old days.
But as others have said, P2P and the forum have likely had their best (most interesting) days already. Removing chat might quicken the demise of the latter.
I believe P2P offerings have also changed substantially, diluting the value of the forum even if we all still wanted to invest

I agree that many of the issues covered in Chat are relevant to P2P and that we should keep it.
There are some good, knowledgeable posters around and we should aim to keep them.
I have voted to keep as is.

I agree with most of the other comments. Keep the chat open, it's a platform with decent level headed posters. Like most on here I have only a couple of investments left in p2p( and 2 in rundown) and spend more time in chat that checking p2p posts. However the site is essential to share info quickly with members when news relevant to our wealth becomes available. For that reason I hope the platform continues.

Would like to take the opportunity to say thanks for setting up the site and running it. I hope chat keeps going, we all know that world events especially this year impact markets and it's interesting to read people's views on events. However, time waits for no one, and I expect we are nearer the end then the beginning of this forum. Of course, you could drop chat but keep the jokes .

Arguably, that new last one would largely be an irrelevance as why would anyone vote if they didn't care? (If they took the trouble to vote and truly didn't know or care, I suspect they'd vote for the 2nd option of keeping things as they are.) I was a "don't care" - there was a big banner at the top of the forum inviting people who wouldn't otherwise go anywhere near the chat board to do so.
Initially I thought it was a vote on the future of this entire forum... I personally had no idea this board was so popular, and don't normally post or read within this board, but having now been dragged into the vote, I might as well do my democratic duty and indicate that I have no preference for what you all do with it!

Exactly. And had it been split from 'Something Else', your 'no preference' vote could have been safely ignored for the irrelevance that it is (to the purpose of the poll).
