After a recent purchase and the courier claiming they cant find my address, then the seller(poss chinese?)offering me 3 quid back for a 10 item as compensation!! I'm now wondering how many sellers are being impacted by RM strike action and other couriers now over whelmed with volumes over spilling from RM to alternative carriers. I for one dint use Amazon much but might make the move now as delivery seems a big challenge on ebay. Any others with similar experiences?

things are taking ages to arrive at the moment.
Interestingly a similar attitude from a chinese seller, I ordered a powerbank what arrived was a shell ( and it was broken ) that required batteries, and needed soldering etc to complete. I asked for a refund and was offered 25%, I said I was unhappy and would escalate to eBay and got a full refund within an hour.

I sold a book on ebay and posted it yesterday, 2nd class large letter (it was a slim book). The buyer didn't want to pay for extra postage costs, so that was the only option. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes to get there.

I ordered something on Sunday afternoon and it arrived this morning by royal mail (1st class), A friend had something posted (1st class) from the same person last Thursday and he still hasn't seen his, no doubt buried in a heap of backlog.
I probably post 20 parcels/large letters per week on average, I've moved all but a very small amount (maybe 3 per week) away from Royal mail to a courier over the past year, I doubt I will go back to them unless I find the courier service is abysmal, as it is at present, all is good.
Re; Chinese sellers, far too many conmen over there if you read on the internet, order one thing and receive something totally different or counterfeit, and as they have proof of delivery you are on a sticky wicket getting your money back, buyer beware.

I'm posting several eBay sales (usually individual stamps, so small envelopes) and using up left-over stamps of yesteryear (before Royal Mail no longer recognises them from July 31). I send second-class and use several old stamps on each envelope, which usually confuses the sorting machines, so they go first-class, which may save a couple of days of the delay.
I posted my Christmas cards (the few I still bother to send, most of my personal communications being by email) over the weekend, a week earlier than usual.

Looks like currys just moved courier aswell. No doubt most large businesses will never go back to royal mail group.
Just been advised my tenner will be refunded by the seller.
Worked out well in the end( hopefully) as Amazon have exactly sane item for 3 quid less! Rechargeable reading led light. Poss might even be from the same seller.
Pity about RM , shame for seller, poor performance from Yodel.
Consumers have plenty choice these days.

Is RM 1st and 2nd class just arbitrary mechanisms to slow down 2nd class mail and charge more overall or do they really reflect cost? Seems to me it would be more efficient to send all post as quick as reasonably possible?
For parcels, in my experience nobody beats Amazon for reliability and indeed speed if pay 5 quid a month for Prime.

This week I have had two items delivered by RM. In each case they arrived the day after I received notification of dispatch by the sellers.
I currently have five parcels coming from different retailers via EVRi that are shown as ‘at the delivery depot’ (the oldest since 28 November). No sign of actual delivery and little assistance from their ‘help’ chat. Their email reply to my enquiry “In the unlikely event that you have not seen any further updates by day 10 please contact the sender of the parcel and we will liaise with them directly to resolve.”
Not very re-assuring this close to Christmas!

EVRi - the delivery firm that's so bad it had to change its name.

Indeed Evri are cheap, prob a major competitor to RM now, but the service can be a hit or a miss. Comms is impossible with them. Seems a lot is down to local owner operator. I sent quite a few items via evri recently and all seem to have arrived.
RM share price now under £2. Ebay share price now dropping after a recent spike. However so is Amazon so prob all due to folks cutting back rather than service. Will be interesting to see what happens in january sales

Was checking yesterday on an Groupon order, discovered it was marked as delivered on Sunday ( I was out all day ) go online and try to track and it uses something called aftership.com. this had the tracking number prefilled but it didn't carry through and Yodel tracking is a pain to reproduce and it won't let me cut and paste.
eventually discovered it had been left up the road.
as to RM I had an order from Sunday delivered today but still waiting for stuff posted early last week
I won't use EVRI as they are:- a) impossible to contact b) they use the exclusions on insurance to basically refuse to pay out on anything

I paid an extra 90p for proof of delivery on several parcels, I get mailed pics of my parcel on the ground, at a door, in someones hand! Apparantly pods are not taken now due to covid!! It really gets my goat the lies and corporate companies spout. When they say we are experiencing high call volumes, why cant they just be honest and say they are busy, we dont employ enough staff or the dont care that the 15 choice menu annoys folks so much they give up. Modern world and progressive customer service.

And as a) -- hard to contact, then insist they are right without providing any proof of why they say that. Even with pictures of the item before packing, the spec of the Jiffy bag used, and a pic from the recipient holding a tape measure over the item, they still would not back down -- so Parcel2Go (intermediary) had to good-will-gesture resolve it for them.
