just finalising my tax return
I have an idea in my head of what the final tax figure should be and was horrified at the numbers.
went back and looked I had put 360000 instead of 3600.00 in one of the boxes for income
makes rather a big difference to the tax payable

My petrol pump makes the same mistake, every time I fill the tank... Always watch the pump nozzle rather than the meter. Firstly it is better for your blood pressure and secondly you will see if the pump does not cut out and your tank is overflowing, as happened to me the other day.

Not for this level of error, but check the HMRC calculation against your figures it's usually not that difficult. And make sure no discrepancies.

One of the big things that I noticed when retired was the amount of money that your car eats up. Previously I travelled about 25,000 miles a year for work and was a constant at the pumps. Now I fill up about once every 6 weeks and mileage is evenly split between visits to the golf course and visits to the airport.
Can't remember the last time I bought a new tyre

I had an idea ( to within a couple of quid ) how much it should be, but when the answer comes out £180,000 out it was an obvious mistake, another thing that irritated me was when filling 1 section in it appeared I should put part in box A and part in Box B so I did and it rejected saying "you can't complete both" so I put the total in A and 0 in B and it rejected it again, removing the 0 worked. so 0 not ok null is that's poor IT design for me

I was very similar at least 1 set of tyres a year, and a service every 4 months or so. I could clock up 300 miles in a day sometimes and it felt normal, over Christmas I drove just over 200 one day and the next morning my shoulders were stiff. I suppose it's what your muscles get used to. Insurance now I do 10,000 a year rather than nearer 40,000 is also a bonus saving. although car is still declared for business mileage, as I was advised that should I have an accident whilst carrying stock they could be difficult about paying out. Which make me wonder how many EVRI UBER etc drivers have their cars covered for all the mileage and business use

Can't remember the last time I bought a new tyre I definitely can. Fourteen tyres have come my way in the last three years. Six Mich CrossClimates @ £90 ea onto the car we bought at the start of lockdown - a full set of four, then two decided they didn't like holding air in, one via a sharp edge, one via something pointy. It came with a pair of ancient, low-tread and a pair of off-brand cheapies. Then, 10k miles later, a set of four Mich CrossClimates @ £130 ea onto the replacement for that car, just before Xmas. It came with a pair with receding tread and one with a not-that-slow leak. Meanwhile, four used rims with tyres, favour-repayment from a mate, onto the camper van. Two on that were nearer 20yo than 10...

Been online this morning as my return has been approved.
go to make the bank transfer and my bank says I have to use my card reader to authorise payment. Turn reader on "Battery Low" get half way through process and the reader turns off. I turn it back on and it says "Battery exhausted" and turns off and refuses to restart find where battery goes in reader and its a 3032, look in the drawer where I keep batteries, yep I've used all my 3032 batteries, so a quick trip to pound shop for a pack of batteries. Finally got it done, glad I didn't want until the 31st
