Wow. Instant payment with debit card to 14 days to refund. They must be bottom of the pile. I'm surprised consumer laws allow such a long period for the customer's money to earn interest for the vendor.

If Ryanair cancel your flight it takes about 6 months to get your money back.

I had the same from Wickes. They took my money, a day later told me the goods were out of stock and said it would be 14 days to refund. Something about the fact that they had already sent the money to the supplier and they had to wait to get the money back from them. Swift email to the CEO sorted that out.

Zero chance of that. I prefer airlines where your luggage arrives at the same destination.

I use screwfix for all diy needs. Superb service, open when you need them, easy returns, branch4s everywhere. Ladt if the decent customer service. Ironically owned by B&q I believe.

Toolstation is owned by Travis Perkins, who used to own Wickes.

On my last-but-one visit to Screwfix, I was served by a courteous and pleasant young man, on my next by a sullen and uninterested girl. As she was peering at her screen for what I wanted, the same young man emerged and said "good morning" to those of who were being served. Quite a pleasant gesture, I thought.
Overall I'm impressed with the Screwfix service, including getting out-of-stock items to me quickly.
In Wickes there's seldom anyone on the shop floor to ask. (Same in the big Boots in town.)
Worst experience was in JD Sports when I wanted a cheapo pair of slippers. I saw a single on display, explored the nearby boxes for a pair in my size, couldn't spot them, asked an assistant who airily waved towards a large pile of boxes a little further away. After ten minutes I gave up and asked someone else who took me to the correct boxes, some distance from the display singleton.
