I am not an avid watcher of the RS markets so this may be perfectly normal; but just at present I have some money on so I am watching the 5yr market.
At the time of writing there has been zero volume on 5yr market for about 34hrs? i.e. since 20:18 on the 10/1.
Looking at the stats there appear to be enough lender supply and borrower demand stacked up waiting to go.
Why no activity?

Gnasher, which "stats" are you looking at exactly? Give me some time and later on I''ll take a deeper look. Kevin

Gnasher, the RS members only area showing loan volumes by term and "within last" is on-line latest and correct. No new 48 or 60 month loans were written on Friday late evening or Saturday. Our underwriters are taking a deserved Saturday rest, ready to review the demand Monday. If your money is sitting at the "market rate" for 4/5 year money it will almost certainly be lent Monday morning. So anyone wanting 5.5% can start earning this from Monday....

OK, thanks Kevin. I guess I do not understand to what extent manual intervention is required in the matching process. To some extent it seems to be totally automatic once the 2 queues have been set up with matches taking place in the evenings and over the weekend (1,2 and 3 yr markets all had activity in the last 24hrs but 4 and 5 did not) If humans are involved and they were having Saturday off, well that is perfectly reasonable! As an aside when I lend on the 5 year market it looks like some of my loans may only be for 48 months, I had not appreciated that. I presume it is pure chance what mix we get. Edit: just looked at a selection of my loan contracts, most have 60months but I do have some for 48months. I guess that makes the premium over the 3 year market look even better

It's is 4 or 5 year market, which perhaps could be clearer but we don't get much confusion feedback from our customers, and our service team spend a lot of time on the telephone talking with customers. The technicalities are that for you it is random if you get a 4 or 5 year loan. Just depends what loan comes along next when your front of the queue. You're money could even be split over multiple loans of different terms. That said, we do many more 5 than 4 year loans so the chances are your money will be in 5 year loans . Attachments:
