I've posted a few reviews on Trustpilot over the last 2yrs or so & never recall having a single spam mail. Obviously, others might have so I've been lucky maybe.

MT is up to 158th now, as the reviews mount up. May I recommend that we really must be very careful how we do business with the obscure non-entity companies at the bottom of the money list, page 34.

SophieThing , I see that many of the other P2P lenders are also ranked by Trustpilot under "Non-bank Finance" (one of the sub-groups within Money). They really need to add a "Peer-to-peer Lenders" sub-group! [Although SS and AC seem to be in the "Investment" sub-group ...]

Hi Ladywhitenap, I also understand that Trustpilot won't email you directly anyway- but I will confirm that for you on Monday too. Kind regards, Sophie Sorry SophieThing you're wrong. Just left a review via your email and immediately got an email from Trust Pilot with my temporary password - I didn't even give them my email address they must have got it from your email link. It would have been good if you had put a warning in your email that clicking on the links would pass my address on to third parties.

I've just had a mailshot from MT requesting feedback be left on Trustpilot. Nothing particularly wrong with that but it includes a link to unsubscribe from Trustpilot's ability to send me other requests for feedback!!!!!!!!
To me this implies that MT will have passed my email address that I use for trusted business uses with MT and others, to a third party. This is absolutely unforgivable in my book and should never ever be done without explicit prior permission ( and this does not mean forgetting to check/uncheck a privacy setting on MT site)
As it happens I have left very positive feedback for MT on TP using an anonymous disposable email address but had I known MT were playing these games I would have marked them down heavily on this point.
The Things are getting quite a lot right in my book but this is a bad bad mistake and Things should take note for the future.
LW
PS I have already had unsolicited email from TP to my disposable address following the review I left yesterday despite requesting no mail. These websites cannot be trusted.

Perhaps Ed needs to clear this up. Another interpretation might be that the unsubscribe link was meant to be helpful to any lender who might wish to leave trustpilot after leaving a review. I would be very surprised if MT had given out information to trustpilot.

What's to stop competitors slamming the opposition?

I'd like to think you are correct Hendragon but the unsubscribe link makes me very doubtful The link took me here www.trustpilot.com/unsubscribe/invitation?email=xxxxxx%40xxxxxxx.org.ukWhich in itself gives TP confirmation of who to delete from their invitation database. Distrustpilot seems more appropriate! LW

I've deleted my profile from TP but that also means my review has been deleted - sorry MT just one of those things, I don't like my email address being shared without my permission

Hi All,
Very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the way we've used TrustPilot. I checked through all of this when we first set up the account, but in light of your comments I also want some confirmation of my understanding from them before I post a proper response to you. Give me an hour and I'll have a complete answer to your questions.
Kind regards
Sophie

Hi All Firstly, the reason I selected TrustPilot to collect reviews on our behalf is because they are a well-respected, trusted, global review platform that work with thousands of companies, including our competitors. Reviews collected by them are totally independent and can’t be edited by MoneyThing which gives them a lot more credibility than if we were collecting them ourselves. That said, I think the points raised about privacy are very important. I have spoken to TrustPilot who have confirmed the following process: - When MoneyThing send out an email invite, there is an ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of the email. If customers click on this link and unsubscribe, they will never hear from TrustPilot again. - If customers do leave a review, they click to accept TrustPilot’s T&C’s before it is published. This gives permission for the email address, name and review to be stored securely by TrustPilot (see attached document on data security). - Once customers have left a review, they are sent a confirmation email and a welcome to TrustPilot (see below). This gives the option to have an account, or to delete your profile. If you delete, all your reviews will be deleted, and again, you will never hear from TrustPilot again. - If you decide to keep your TrustPilot account, this is for the purpose of leaving reviews and not for TrustPilot to use for their own marketing purposes. Over 10 million people have left a review on TrustPilot and have never received marketing communication from TrustPilot. The document on data security also confirms that MoneyThing remain the data controller for invites. Having considered the point raised by Ladywhitenap, I can see that the way we ask for permission to send emails on registration is no longer sufficient. There are many types of communication and as we grow we are sending out not just loan notifications, but also updates and newsletters and now review requests. We will make sure that we update and expand our ‘click to accept’ criteria in the admin area so that each lender can explicitly say what type of communication they wish to receive. I’m sorry that this hasn’t already been done and thank you for pointing out this weakness. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kind regards, Sophie compressed email security - Trustpilot 2015....pdf (105.24 KB)

Not got a clue as to why, but mine has been removed.
I'm still able to log into Trustpilot through a rarely used Facebook account, the same I used when initially adding the review, so they can't have removed me. It didn't help that the link they gave (her instead of here in the email) takes me to the Danish area.
