There is no point in overbidding except if the system uses some percentage allocation method. Bottom up: overbidding gets you nowhere, you only get what everyone else gets, and random 'out of the hat': you can only get all you ask for, or none.

You don't need protection against overbidding in an even filling arrangement. It's only the group A that you mentioned that has potential benefit to overbidding because it can allow people to get more than they want then barter with others to get more of something else instead.

Ed, I put in a request for MT to bid on the Mercedes last night (abroad right now). Did it through the website instead of a separate email.
Got an automated response from the site but no actual reply by email and did not get any of the loan. Should I have emailed direct?
Would be lovely to have a prefunding facility!

Whichever pre-funding method is chosen will result in smaller allocations than we can get now.
I trust there are measures to prevent people running multiple accounts.

Morning, I am afraid not. We acknowledged and placed all the bids successfully that we thought we had received. Will check the website form today to test it is still working, however this simply emails us the details at support@ and therefore probably best to email directly. Kind regards, Ed

Hmm, I looked all over the website but I can't find a 'barter' tab anywhere. Maybe one for Ed to consider (or preferably not). 8>.

Whilst I accept everything that has been written, there have been many posts concerning MT saying 'keep it simple' a position I hold and keep to. A year or so ago I didn't have an MT account because my work was in a 'no phones, no internet' environment. More recently when I've been away without internet access I've accepted that I will miss loans*, so be it. I've missed on FFF on the odd occasion but I still view that as acceptable. MT has recently become my top platform in terms if cash invested, a position that I am very content with, so something must be going right. On AC I've experienced very low allocations and whilst I suppose I should be 'pleased' to have got something, for me it actually leaves a more negative feeling than to have simply missed out. I accept that changes may be necessary in order that MT continues to grow but I would hate to see it develop in a way that people spend a lot of time trying to game the system as we have seen on other platforms. *did manage to grab a bit in a FFF frenzy when sitting on my motorcycle at the top of an extinct volcano in the Massif Central earlier this year

I would welcome some option (open to others' ideas). I am always in work at 4pm (meetings/clinics). I do my best to sneak out to the loo to try to get an allocation on the phone. 2 days running now I have thought that I have successfully bought (the car and tranche B) but on checking later in the day it hasn't gone through. Has anyone else had the same problem, or is it just from my phone? Some sort of prefunding would suit me..... An alternative, that wouldn't reduce the amounts received, would be to release 60-70% at 4pm and the rest at say 8pm. Bid restriction still 24 hours from 4pm so you only get one shot. It would be unreasonable to expect funds credited in the evening, they would still need to be actioned earlier.

Irony: I logged onto MT a few mins to 4.00pm and started reading this thread while I waited, and missed the FFF.

Missed out on this one AS WELL. These are relatively large loans with relatively large (absolute) max initial bids. Why couldn't the max bid limit have been lower ? I've frequently said that I'm not in favour of complicating MT and making it an SS me too with pre bids etc., but that requires better / more cautious max bid setting.
Or was no maximum bid set ??
Oh, now I get it. It went live YESTERDAY. b******************
I'm rapidly leaching money out of MT which is not what I want.

Well yes it did, but you still have a good point .. the 0.5%just isn't working for anything remotely popular (12% and up) .. as shown by the 13% tranche of this one which lasted less than an hour IIRC (and the first batch lasted about 5 minutes). One of the advantages of pre-funding is that it would be blindingly obvious when a loan was going to be oversubscribed, so the max could be adjusted ahead of time.

Maybe the limit could be re-applied when the 24 hours is up. Somebody took £50k+.

The highest bid I've seen on MT was 99k just after a 4pm limit ran out, that was a few months ago though.
Rather than a fixed percentage it might be better to work out the limits based on the number of members, adjusted for smaller and inactive bidders.

well if anyone is looking to sell down any of tranche A, let me know, since I managed to miss out on both the loans.
