During the past few months I have looked at numerous P2P platforms and have found this Forum an invaluable tool in deciding where, and to what extent, I should 'invest'.
Over the past few days I have been trying to evaluate ThinCats, and frankly I'm finding it hard work to 'get a feel' for their operation. Trying to navigate the ThinCats forum is like climbing a greasy pole, but I did find a reference to a 'ThinCats User Manual' which might just be what I need. Without a search facility I haven't been able to relocate the relevant thread.
If anyone could point me in the right direction re this 'manual', or any other documentation which might be of interest, I would be most grateful.

Hi ianj, it is kept in their dropbox for which I believe you only get access once you have committed funds to the platform.

There's a version on the old forum that has screenshots from the previous version of the software, though it will give you an idea of how TC works.

I've tried your link, and just as with their dropbox you can only access the old forum once you have committed funds. Guess I'll have to look down the back of the sofa!

Each investment you make on TC will be at least £1000 (with some minor aftermarket exceptions).
If you are ok with that then the best thing to do is open an account, send in £1000 - which goes to a separate client account - and then you'll be able to get a proper look. If you don't like it withdraw the £1000.
The best thing about TC (I think) is the Q&A. The software is quite cludgy to use, you get the hang after a while. That's what the manual is about, how to work the software because it's not very instinctive.
There are two distinct fora (forums), the one you access withn the site the other at forum.thincats.net nb dot NET - you'll get a login for this when you sign up. the second is a sort of tell it how you see it kind of place, nothing offensive. I've learned a lot from both.

the thin cats user manual should be available once you have accsss to the 'invested members only' fora (the .net place). If you get to that point but can't find it, drop a note into the .net forum and you'll get pointed to where it is. Declare yourself as new to TC etc.
Of course ideally the user manual wouldn't be required or would be accessible from the main site: but its a community generated document.
Once you get used to TC, the IT/UI is not so bad: well with the exception of the secondary market, and the forum on the .com site, and a few other things. But it is improving. Mostly :-)

I'm sorry that you are having a problem accessing the ThinCats user manuals, until this morning I was under the impression that all such documents were available from a link labelled "Resource Centre" at the bottom of the Home Page (www.thincats.com) but in looking for the link in order to make this post I have realised that it is not. We will fix that tomorrow (Monday). I have just attempted to attach the file but it is 2mb and the limit on this forum is 1mb so here is a link to the Dropbox where we keep the files for new members: www.dropbox.com/sh/3jc47brj5qdzu8p/AABuh1s-_fd4r2N5-UWNaaxNa I hope that helps. <snip by mod: "Thanks" would have sufficed> Dear Mod "Thanks" wasn't my point. My point was to criticise kevin, who is the boss of TC, who managed again to get it wrong, my campaign being to persuade TC to look after the detail with greater care, because it's very unnerving. As he well knows, I and others want them to instill quality, and my suggestion is that they delegate details to an 'injun, because chiefs such as he (and I in my time) aren't good at it. By way of additional evidence note my post just below clarifying Kevin's latest posting. I expect I drive him mad, but then he drives me mad so tant pis

Pointing out mistakes is fine, but it needs to be done in a polite way on here please. This forum is a place to have discussions not to attack people. Personal attacks just escalate the tension level, stress people out and get the discussion nowhere. If you want to have a fight with Kevin please take it elsewhere, it's not welcome here.

Thanks to all who responded to my initial question re the 'User Manual'. I intend to deposit my money and see what I then find.
