Most MT lenders are happy to keep hold of their loans so the SM tends to wake up only on days that a new loan is being launched, of which none were scheduled over Xmas. Look out for the next Pipeline loans update from Ed to gauge when things will get going again. When it does, loans aren't likely to last long on the SM (sometimes seconds).

I know its xmas period and end of year n all but are loans that scarce ? They are effectively closed from 23rd December until tomorrow. There were a few renewal loans (Christmas Eve/Christmas Day). If there is anything on the sm it's usually snapped up very quickly. Lenders here tend to hold onto loans. The best time to find anything on the sm is if a new loan is listed for that day as people may sell down to raise funds. Hopefully new loans soon.

Aye it is barren just now! Make sure you are online for the new loans when they come up bang on 4pm or whatever the release time is and you'll soon get invested.

I managed to pick up a some yesterday, just happened to login and about 4 loans on SM. Ignored the football stadium. Used up the funds from a repaid loan, and interest. Most the time there has been nothing on the SM. I didn't need a bot.

Those are interesting. Give me the impression that z***4 may have made an automated £500 initial buy at a cap level then later after human review a decision to buy more. I wonder whether those clicks and initial typing happened faster or slower than the fastest response and action times of the human nervous system.
Anything under a fifteenth of a second would be very unlikely to be a human given that being the time it took for the brain to work out which foot was being shocked in an old experiment by Donders, vs the response time of those who already knew which and just had to respond as soon as the shock happened. Noticing a change related to an investment and where then reacting to the various steps to buy would be slower than that very simple case. A more realistic lower bound would be the observation in a Stanford note that you would be unlikely to be able to react to a cat instead of a baseball being pitched to you in the 0.4 seconds of ball flight time, again a much simpler problem than a financial decision.

Not sure you are reading the listing right James. £8 at just b4 2pm £500 at 2 minutes 15 sec after 8pm and £1160 at 2 minutes 38 sec after 8pm. I think even i could react i that time.

I assumed that the 500 buy was the first part of a newly for sale amount, assuming that if more than 8 had been around earlier the 8 buy would have been 500 or 508 and that there was no need to wait for a deposit to clear. Doesn't seem likely that the money appeared on the secondary market and took six hours to sell given the speed of the action of three buyers after 8.
The key response times are initially the time from the offer to sell appearing to the buy along with how fast screens were moved through and amounts selected. If that first buy reaction of some sort happened faster than human response time it wouldn't be likely to be a human.

Looks like 2k added and zxxxx4 was disrupted by 13s between bids.

Yes, it does, and I speculate that the two other buyers were genuine rapid human response times to an alert from a web page change monitoring tool.
Of course this is just speculation since I don't know exactly when the loan became available and what the response times actually were. So I have no actual way of determining if it was initially automated, that takes data I don't have.

I've certainly observed several parts I've listed disappear from the SM astonishingly quickly in recent weeks (more or less instantaneously as I click Sell)
