My trip in the US is coming to an end. I have lots of USDs leftover. What is the best way to convert the leftover currency back into Sterling?

You could try the MSE TravelMoneyMax although recently I got a better rate at Debenhams than the best local option indicated by the tool. London exchanges offer the best rates but personally I prefer not to post by Special Delivery in case rates turn against you. Edit: oh, and forex forecasting really is a mug's game

The implication is that cooling_dude believes that USD will strengthen against GBP.

If it is in cash open a bank account (although the anti money laundering checks will be tedious) then use someone like HIFX, or as you appear to like P2P tthere are sites like www.currencyfair.com that do the same in fx. Whatever method you use it will be better than going to a bureau de change with the notes or a High Street Bank. The current difference on 1000 US$ is Currency Fair £770, Travelex £704 or more than 6%. Waiting is a gamble in 12 months you might get more, you might get less.
