... g) Sometimes shoddily prepared (little in the way of proof reading). ... Trivial as it may seem, this is something I use to triage offers - if you can't be bothered to prove reed and rum spill chequer then I can't be bothered to loan you my money. Next ...

And an update yesterday regarding an initial transfer of funds from the new partner by early next week and a final transfer of funds to allow full repayment in 7-10 days or 'at worst' 3-4 weeks ... Excited for this weeks excuse on why our glorious initial payment hasn't arrived yet! The dog ate my funds ...

I've twice the money outstanding against containers on ABL than I do on this boat and the ******* S**** W**** Property (692 days and counting) combined on FS - yet updates from FS causes the red mist to descend in a way those from ABL never have yet. Now why's that, do you think?

General P2x Discussion
investUP

I invested a nominal sum in 2015. It seems that the site may have had changes intended to improve the level of automation for loan purchasing. However, currently basic functionality seems to have stalled. I have an investment on investUP in a Rebs loan that I know is overdue because I looked on the Rebs website, but I can see no indication of the status of the loan on investUP. An investment in Assetz is up to date on the Assetz website, but according to investUP Notifications the most recent repayment was 47 weeks ago. I tried withdrawing the balance on my account and this was reported as successful but no pending withdrawal is shown and the balance remains unchanged. I can see no simple way to reconcile my investUP account, with a list of transfers in, transfers out, interest, capital repayments, and investments. Not all of this information is shown under Notifications. No response to questions through the site. Almost exactly the same experience - except for withdrawing cash, I got some out. But the front page shows me having a negative cash balance with them - go figure. If I had serious money in it I would actually be more energetic in doing something about - although your last point suggests this might not be easy.

FundingSecure (FS) in Administration
Overdue loans

Overall, January was certainly one of the worst months I can recall on FS for having overdue loans repay (with 1 or 2 notable exceptions, eg. Lancaster). My hope is the hiatus will be short-lived and that it's largely the seasonal hangover of the legal profession shutting down for Xmas and New Year before slowly grinding itself back into action. Otherwise, I fear FS will need to invest in some larger baseball bats... Indeed. The 'Glaswegian approach' to debt recovery does seem appealing for some loans ...

Am I bovvered?

SteveT mrclondon mikes1531 - thanks. 'Don't panic, Captain Mainwaring' seems to be the answer, and it looks like the boat loan is heading for harbour.

Am I bovvered?

Or more to the point, should I be bovvered?
Been investing in FS for 6 months so loans starting to reach maturity. At the top of my list of current investments are 1) a property that should have paid out 5 weeks ago - payment promised in 'April'; 2) ditto 3 weeks over - payment promised when borrower sells another property, sale 'delayed'; 3) a boat that should have paid out on the 8th - no info as to what's happening.
If they stagger on and eventually pay the principal and all the interest that's fine and dandy. But as a newbie I've no idea if this is normal jogging for FS or not, so am experiencing a very mild twitch. Can an old lag offer reassurance?

We had a deal for a Sand/Gravel quarry in Scotland today at c 30% LTV which we decided not to pursue as it was too far off from our norm. Is there a demand for alternative but secured assets? I would have a punt on that.

As it's rather late in the day I've switched from my desktop onto an iPad and I've just noticed that the highlighted notes in the loan title showing whether the loan is open or closed for cash back don't appear at all on the iPad as they did on my desktop earlier this evening. There's nothing I can see anywhere on the Bolton loan tranches that indicates the cash back has now been paid when viewing from the iPad, so I hope people using iPads aren't going to invest in the SM sales thinking it is still part of the primary market offer and that they will be getting cash back That's strange. All show correctly on my iPad. Ditto

If the police and CPS are unwilling/unable to take action in these cases, surely that's simply telling any aspiring fraudster that getting caught results in a 'free pass'? Not good.

As a P2P minnow it would tempt me to stick an extra pittance in both.

Here's the tota SM activity by hour for the last week or so (although I know for sure that some got through undetected). As you can see it is basically peanuts right now: Count Total Speed Hr 00:xx 115 £36,609 16.9 Hr 01:xx 24 £1,578 361.5 Hr 02:xx 68 £87,463 3098 Hr 03:xx 28 £4,760 1677.5 Hr 04:xx 11 £4,824 12.5 Hr 05:xx 2 £2,361 68.5 Hr 06:xx 3 £300 23.7 Hr 07:xx 30 £2,491 21.2 Hr 08:xx 50 £8,387 16.2 Hr 09:xx 70 £13,434 15.7 Hr 10:xx 42 £12,686 17.7 Hr 11:xx 78 £23,880 19.9 Hr 12:xx 58 £36,144 15.2 Hr 13:xx 169 £44,233 14.4 Hr 14:xx 90 £31,160 15.5 Hr 15:xx 38 £19,632 23.1 Hr 16:xx 36 £6,307 17.7 Hr 17:xx 59 £4,436 12.3 Hr 18:xx 34 £12,280 14.6 Hr 19:xx 164 £23,552 14.5 Hr 20:xx 50 £14,200 27.1 Hr 21:xx 22 £3,832 16.0 Hr 22:xx 15 £3,182 37.5 Hr 23:xx 12 £7,508 28.8 Speed is the (unweighted) average of how long it lasted before being snapped up (or in the case of 2am, nibbled at gently). (OK, actually it is nearly 10 days worth!) How time flies when you're on autopilot. 8>. Interesting. Off to the US for a couple of months soon, so it looks like late evening there is the time to pick up some bits and bobs ... Certainly a better proposition than staying up to 2am here.

The only points I would add to the discussion above is that where you start out with P2P/P2B is probably not where you will end up at! When I started the choices were limited to a few platforms in their first years so you went with them.
Now the choice is much larger, some I like, some I'm not so keen on. +90% of my P2P/P2B investments are through 8 platforms (19 separate accounts).
If I was starting out now I would invest a very small amount in a number of platforms and then decide on my preferences for the future. Only though experience (and reading on this forum) do you get an idea how friendly the website is, how good the communications are, how long you might suffer 'dead money', do you have to hover with a 'fastest finger', how time consuming is investing through each site ...... the list goes on.
Only with a bit of experience do you find out the best platforms for you .....and that is the important point, you need to feel comfortable with your investments, we are all different. Ta. I'm across 7 but far too heavily biased to FC, who proved seductive to a young and innocent greenslime. Can I ask - what is the advantage of multiple accounts on the same platform? Is it to get round the limits placed on investment by some platforms in the early days of a loan, or what?

All, thanks for the welcome.
And for the replies which have helped me to start thinking seriously about risk, both absolute (if that's the right word? - I mean something that is inherently risky) and relative i.e. is A riskier than B? I've not punted on either of the examples I quoted but my gut would point me towards MT.
