Problem gone. Odd. The capture with the signs and trees kept popping up, but no box to tick. Oh well, all well that ends well.... :-)

Unable to buy anything on the SM right now because though I get told to tick the box, there is no box to tick! Anyone else?

It's the best site for me due to it's simplicity and active SM. So yes, also done.

If eurgbp reaches ~81.00 I'll be looking to hedge some euro exposure. I would be waiting for the Pound to go lower than that, though don't ask me why. Gut feeling as much as anything, which seems to be as accurate as anything else. My two last serious Euro to Pound purchases were at 97P and 91P with another a couple of years back at 85P. It's easy to forget that on the Euro the Pound has been as strong as 59P and as weak as parity. If I recall correctly, the Euro was even above parity at one point.
More on topic, I just ignore suggestions that an out vote will mean the UK is going to have a wall built around it. Where these people get the idea that the UK is a lame duck dependent on the EU to survive is beyond me. Any attempt by the EU to punish us for leaving is going to be a shot in it's own foot and they know it.

xyon100 I have a friend who I introduced to ablrate, he faced similar issues. Customer services were able to sort him out. Well, I have written to them pointing out that I cannot get a bank statement sent here unless the police have visited to confirm I live here, so surely that statement is better proof that I live here than any utility bill for a UK resident? As far as I can tell, the FCA require evidence of address, but I see nothing that says it must be a utility bill? It's all as clear as mud, actually. :-)

This is currently an issue for me as I have Ablrate apparently insisting that I must supply a utility bill in my name. I simply don't have one. My rent covers water, there is no gas and the electricity is in the name of my wife. I don't remember what I gave to SS, but there was certainly not a utility bill involved.
It's silly really because we actually get the police here to check we live where we say we do, hence making the micky mouse method of identifying where people live by such things as utility bills completely redundant anyway. A bank statement with my address on it is better than any utility bill, because they will only send it to the address on the ID card, the address where the police visited to check.
I have to go back to Ablrate with this issue.

I've tried several attempts to buy some of this loan on the SM but the website hangs on the processing purchase page. Is anyone else having this issue? I don't want to keep trying just in case all my previous attempts do eventually go through and I end up with five times the amount I want...... Yes, somebody else has reported an issue. I would just leave it alone and let it settle. I think there will be no shortage of these on the SM for quite a while.

Yep £542k looking for a home! My modest requirements will not make much of a dent in that.

Tut Tut. ablrateandy you have been on the P2P scene long enough now to know better that few on this forum have much belief in the value of Possible Guarantees Why not go with the latest technology - and at half the price! = www.proairsport.com - seriously thought this small British tech start up is probably in need of some finance so they might even want to talk to you! I'm looking for someone to go shares with in one!! John Have they flown one yet? Not immediately clear from the website. I must admit, the idea of a self launching sailplane sounds fab to me. It is pretty radical though. Jet engine and electric powered undercarriage?!

You might check out your contact pages as well. No email received in response to forgotten password link and no response received from contact us form. Thank you for letting us know. That has been picked up by customer services and we have emailed, so it maybe that your email client is putting ours in spam. If you can email customerservices@ablrate they will be able to respond directly and get you set up. Regards Ablrate Just to let the casual reader know that Ablrate got on to this pretty quick including a call from them(that I was unable to answer). Think it's important not to leave the wrong impression.

I have invested in this. I obviously have the same concerns as most people have on here about this, "why would a high-net-worth individual want/need a loan at such a high rate?" "why all the secrecy/sketchiness etc". FS are asking us to trust them with this loan, they wouldn't condone it if they didn't think it would pay imo, the risks far outweigh the benefits for them. I'm not too sure why they have brought this on themselves, but there must be a good reason and strategy behind it.
FS can't afford for this one to go sour, by hook or by crook I strongly believe I will get my money back +15%, they simply can't afford for this seemingly very 'risky' loan to fail. The negative PR and serious risk of annoying those that invest and those that change their opinion about the platform as a whole on account of this bizarre strategy will leave in droves if it goes bad. Most of you won't invest and it is already making you doubt the platform's credibility. FS would basically be committing suicide if they let this one default, so that is the only reason I am investing. It's probably the safest loan on their books when you think about what they are actually doing here, no security on the loan other than the entire future of the platform in my eyes, and for me at 15% its a punt worth taking.
It was exactly this logic that lead me to lose a lot of money with a small company that let one customer run up a million pound debt. After a year of messages from the directors telling us they were expecting payment "shortly" it was finally admitted that this high profile and wealthy person with his strong personal guarantee had told the company to take him to court, where he would counter sue for allowing him to run up the debt while not explaining the risk to him. Of course, FS know far more about this person than we do, but so did the directors of the spread betting company that allowed Mr slick to run up his million pound debt.

No security, no details of the borrower at all. I'm astounded that anybody would invest in this. This looks like a very dangerous path indeed. Should this loan default the consequences will be massive. I for one am not investing one penny more with FS.
