The public email system is open to interception by hackers (and of course government agencies). Security savvy organisations do not use email to communicate sensitive information, so I am not impressed that Ratesetter has chosen to broadcast my savings balance using this method. I have now unsubscribed.

I agree. I think this kind of information should not be sent by email at all. Ratesetter should take immediate measures to ensure savers' own statistics are only accessible to signed-in Ratesetter clients, directly from the secure site.

Just to put the other side of the argument, ZP has been sending me weekly emails showing money lent out and money received for the last five years and I've not heard anyone over there complaining about it... If we're talking security, RS's single-stage sign-on is much more of a risk than their sending out balances by email.

If we're talking security, RS's single-stage sign-on is much more of a risk than their sending out balances by email. From memory there was some discussion about it over on Zopa and an option was added to people's profiles so they could opt out of receiving the numbers if they preferred.

The posts regarding the emails has been noted, and discussed by the RateSetter team. However no decision has been reached, I'll keep you informed. The option sounds good though, rather than a complete change. In terms of security, we already offer dynamic security (much better than questions) which you can switch on. Truth is not many choose it: Pic removed by elljay: not sure if that's your phone number westonkevRS ?

Are you going to let us into the secret of how to switch it on?

I'm sorry, but I don't see it there.
