Have just noticed a new facility (Smart Interest) on the website. Investment tenures of 1-8 years with varying degrees of interest rates 3-8%. Money pretty much tied up with redemption fees but highly attractive rates of interest.
Simple tool aiming to avoid the complexity of understanding individual bond selections.

I note they are unsecured. How is that, given that the money will be used to invest in corporate bonds?

Hi Rick,
While the WiseAlpha Investment bonds are structured as unsecured bonds that doesn’t mean you don’t have a claim over the assets i.e. the bonds we acquire. It just allows us the flexibility to potentially take out some margin (which would technically be senior) if we need to to boost the yield generated by the SPV when market conditions make it harder to generate the desired returns. The majority of funds that invest in this asset class use margin and the shares in these funds aren’t secured either.
In any case the bond proceeds are strictly used to be used to purchase only senior secured and high yield bonds and the SPV we have set up (WiseAlpha Investment Limited) has no operational cost as it uses the WiseAlpha platform infrastructure.
I hope that helps.
Kind regards,
