Peeps, just before I hibernate for the winter, I want to do my AC housekeeping. I have concerns that I'm not getting the repayments I should be, and want to find out my actual interest rate pa.
I've downloaded Excel files for each of my AC accounts, 30 day, GBBA, GEIA etc for 1st Jan to 30th Oct 2017. I know how to use the filter and am moderately competent with fomulas. However, the date cells have date, time and other bumpf in them which presumably makes XIRR difficult. Is there anyway to clean up the date field in one fell swoop so that I can just have two columns, one with date, one with my interest payments?

There are probably other ways but the way I do it is as follows Insert column to the right of the column you want to split up. Highlight the column you want to split ... then 'Data' 'Text to Columns' 'Delimited' press next Tick 'Space' click next to see a preview If it is what you want click 'finish' The date will now be separated into a column on it's own. Delete the column that contains all the 'stuff' that you don't want.
