Received the letter today and it says (my bolding) ..... included your Name and DoB, Telephone number (which they gave the last 4 numbers of in the letter)
Being slightly pedantic but if the information hacked 'included' those items, what else has been taken?

As another contributor said, I also try and use a unique email address for each site. If a breach occurs it does at least allow me to see which company has breached (or knowingly shared) my details. As the recent Uber case demonstrated not all companies release these occurrences as quickly as they should.

As some of you have mentioned earlier in the thread we use diffrent email addresses for each financial institution as an added layer of security. However I logged on to Lloyds today and they are now showing my email address as that as the one recently given to Birmingham Midshires. I appreciate that they might be part of the same group, but if I wanted to change my Lloyds email address, surely that's for me to decide. I have just changed it back to the correct email address for Llloyds, it will be interesting to see wht happens at Birmingham Midshires.

Has anyone else received the Equifax "sorry" letter in the last few weeks? "I'm sorry to let you know ... blah blah ..." It offers all sorts of free "solutions" including webmonitoring for use of details etc. their offer includes adding one's details to yet more hackable databases, and only one year free of a security option when they've affected the rest of a person's life... I personally think they should issue all affected with a new official DOB. The platforms are requiring increasing data without making any statements about how they protect that....
