Managing a self select P2P portfolio is a tough old game. Loans defaulting or getting stuck in long selling queues.
Then you have other loans that you're really happy with and they only go and repay.
Manchester over at MT recently and just today Hull over on FS. One that was small but which I'd been picking up on the SM whenever the chance came.
You also get the situation where you build up a holding in a good loan on FS even paying a premium sometimes only to find that the loan is closed out early and re-advertised due to a partial repayment or some such.
So now faced with having available funds sat on the platform.
Having to be strong a resist diving in and buying something else for the sake of it. Must bide my time or withdraw - although that's less desirable with a non-flexible ISA.
I suppose it's inevitable that loans with good security will repay. We want them to do it - just not so soon.
But it's increasingly difficult to find new loans as sound as the old ones, the issue of cash drag comes into play and the overall risk of loans that I'm holding on any given platform may be going up.
I enjoy the challenge and the rewards can exceed those from the so called safer platforms but sometimes it's quite a bit of work building a position just to see it knocked down.
Feel free to add your examples of unwanted repayments to this thread.
Sarah

I had a 12 month loan at 16% which paid me quarterly. Paid on time, every time for the full 12 months. Nearing the end I had the option to renew at 12% but I had other plans so cancelled.
Technically not an early repayment but I miss that loan...

Yep Manchester on MT hit me as well and have struggled since to get the cash invested again as nothing ever on the SM when I am able to look/bid. With that on MT and the Avast/AVG issue on COL this week, its not been plain sailing this past fortnight

Early repayments over late repayments anytime! You're mad. Think of the interest!
