thanks for this - the auction house, to their credit, are being extremely honest about this one - it looks as if it was quite possibly not done by the artist but his son - all he appears to have done is taken a wax cast from the original plaster model - well I could have done that!
I have traced the family whom I think own it and they clearly know a lot more than FS about art so I wonder if they are anything but stupid !
I just can't see this one making anywhere near £75K net but with modern art strange things can and do happen although I won't be bidding on it!
This is some classy auction - must keep the wife away from it - but I notice there are a lot of French clocks for sale which on a very quick inspection and zero technical knowledge seem to be estimated much lower than the FS loan against , what looks to me, as similar items.
Another date for my auction diary!

To be honest, Sotherby's is a great auction house. Those past items were sold in collection of Edward Albee and The Italian Sale. www.sothebys.com/en/search-results.html?keyword=enfant+juifChiswick auctions? It's a different level. thanks for doing this - great work! Looks to me it is critical that we see what these late performing loans actually come it at - I really expected the cinema to be one of them so got that one 100% wrong although there are plenty of other "interesting ones" Personally I think 50% recovery is quite a plausible figure. Speaking of which I will be watching the Chiswick Auction this afternoon - I just don't have a clue what the "M R Bambino" will go for... Have you got a link to the sale ? Edit...t'was on DD Strewth I hope it goes for more than the estimate..where on earth did FS get their asset value ?

Just had a look - isn't it bloody hideous? EDIT ohmygod they valued it at £200k specifically doing the loan in advance of the auction and the auction house slap 50-75k on it??? How have they managed that??? ... well good luck guys I guess... you'll need it! edit again: current lot was 1-1.5k estimate and it's up at £54k so I guess you never know...

Lot 133 did well..c 4 x's the high estimate...come on Mr Bambino Lot 141 is going for £47k and more, estimate is 1k.
