Don't complain about lack of email This (assuming it is the same) collection was estimated at 300K but sold for 200K WITH premium so about £160K in 2106. I remember this band -it was OK but I am hardly going to open my wallet for a pair of PW shoes! Most mediocre pop memorilia is just not guaranteed to sell - just like the recent PH painting which to me was at least worth something...

My understanding is it was a different part (some 800 items) of this overall collection that was exhibited in London and Liverpool, and then auctioned off in 2016. Which does raise the question as to whether the best items from the collection have already been auctioned off. Searching the 70 page pdf for shoes I see references to posters and adverts for shoes but no actual shoes.

Shudder
Very hard to assess this fairly as a lay person; the inventory does not give a clear view of what is of value and what is not.
Looks to me like the remnants of a garage sale (one item is a "box of screws and cleaners"); the bits that were held back from the 2016 auction so as not to dilute the value/impact.
2016 sold off guitars, jackets, shoes and all sorts of substantial items; this collection is mostly albums, media articles and such like, but with the main things (I guess) listed at the very end: suits, tour jackets, boots. There's also a couple of drum kits. Hard to tell if these are at the end of the list because they are worth nothing, or if it's just poor presentation.

fair point - given that the last auction only raised about 50% net of the valuation are we supposed to believe the entire Jam collection is going to raise about 0.5m quid especially as the prime parts have probably already been sold - we are not talking about the Beatles here!
on this one it is definitely a case of "Going underground" for me....
I think I know who the current owner of the collection is so why does he/she need the money ?

I also note this group is now marketing "jam" tee-shirts, mugs etc etc all at vastly inflated prices. Selling tee-shirts for £15 which my small on-line business can import for about 50p each is not exactly counter-culture or anti-capitalist is it? I guess this would horrify some of their fans so I really wonder why this lender needs the money but I wonder even more just how much this memorabilia is actually worth should the loan be defaulted?
We get it all on FS - Jam memorabilia, ex Pow war camps, powerboats on steroids with mystery Swiss backers and virtual logos, non-performing wind turbines, Whitehaven building frames which are so eco-friendly their environmental footprint is zero, snow domes in the Suffolk countryside - never a dull moment....good job it's only money!
In fact why not a loan for a speedboat in a UK snow resort built with Whitehaven frames and funded by mystery Swiss backers whilst the Jam are playing and throwing their highly valuable personal effects into the crowd - all powered by a NI turbine ;do not laugh it will be, IMO, more profitable than Wimbledon - roll on 2018 when these chickens will come home to roost and I am proven wrong.
Bought another FS jewellery loan today...

Whilst I wouldn't claim to be expert in the area I did collect quite a bit of memorabilia from the era (mainly Sex Pistols and Clash, rather than the Jam) when I was younger much of which I have since sold on. I was pleasantly surprised at the profit I made form it.
The list is too long to go through item by item, but I've spent a bit of time over the last couple of days having a stab at it, and my gut feel is that the valuation is in the right ballpark (please don't me hold me to that!). I took a small stake in this before I had any time for dd, and I'm fairly comfortable not that the 100k could easily be recouped from this if needed. I think a large volume of low cost easily traded items makes the valuation a lot less volatile than a single high value item.
...but what do I know!
