Just noted in the US you can buy this book signed and a first edition for £340 (converted) retail) Granted there are more expensive ones on ebay - you can also buy one of this chap's other signed books for $200 (yes $). How popular is this ex US president in the UK ?
I really think this one may struggle if sent to auction - can we fix it - no we can't! I may be wrong but I am not risking it...

For a £500 renewal there will be 1 or 2 £25 chunks available at most, maybe none - not sure any of us would even get the chance to go for it if we wanted I'll be giving it a go. Even if the book is overvalued, the book+guitar must surely be worth £500! (plus adds a bit of diversification to my portfolio)

Sorry rambler ... had some finger trouble and your post got lost ! Anyway here is the response: How can a loan of £500 against an asset valued at £800 give a LTV of 45.45%? Its against a guitar valued at £800 and a book valued at £300 ... 500/1100 = 45.45%

I can't imagine anyone paying £800 for Epiphone Les Paul. The instrument itself can be worth anything one can imagine, but fire sale value is more likely to be at around £100. It would be interesting to see valuation document, but I couldn't find any files. Not sure about retail price for books signed by former US presidents, but it looks like LTV for this and many similar FS loans are made up... I think this package will seriously struggle if put to auction. It's very odd.

Out of curiosity, I was finger poised...but never saw it appear...what happened ? It was a renewal of £500 loan, presumably held by 20 lenders who renewed it.

Just had an email from another platform where I completely emptied my loan book Yet another defaulted loan (which I sold) has been reclassified as bad debt as the borrower seems to be in Zimbabwe!
Well 2018 is going to be interesting as there are several loans which FS can't keep kicking into the long grass e.g. Knaresborough, Wimbledon, Speed boat and the mysterious Swiss backers. If there are major losses here and I suspect there will be then I will revising all of my FS investments.

Fortunately (atm) my loyalty to another nameless P2P (FC) delayed my arrival at FS...so, without any trace of smugness, I have to declare that the horrors listed above and the turbine farce haven't affected me. I hope that is a good omen for 2018 Edit...Saying that I am into an End***ance B**t but even that, at the moment, seems to be the right way up, even if delayed somewhat

Looks like defaulting such loans is concentrating a few minds - I am really glad to see the second charge on the house in Farnham defaulted not that clearing this chap's debts is going to be so simple!
