Perhaps a dull question but I, obviously, don't know the answer. Barclays offers a 'PINGIT' system that allows immediate payment to a mobile telephone number. It allows payments "to friends and family - or pay businesses". I can understand that Company personnel may not wish to disclose their telephone number but I think it a good idea. Any comments?
By the way, I have never worked in the banking industry and retired many years ago.

It is not the payment method which is an issue. Faster payments takes a max of two hours, but often just minutes. The delay is the recipient allocating the funds to your account. This can be automatic as part of the faster payments receipt process, or it could be a batch process run only once a day. I personally do not trust ANY mobile banking APP.

Faster Payments normally takes a few seconds. Banks that pass on payment details to business tend to charge more depending on how often they provide that information, with once a day around 6PM seeming to be the cheapest option. More frequent options are available. So blame the P2x firms for not paying for more frequent service or their banks for charging more for it.
