Not all investments are zero sum games. I like to invest in a company that creates wealth then everyone's a winner.
You say that you like to invest where a company creates wealth for all and everybody is a winner, so I can assume that you have no shares, either directly or indirectly, in any oil and gas companies? Particularly Shell and BP?
Not directly, but probably via my pension. But why are they not wealth producing? They take oil and gas from underground and refine it to make it useful.

Correct, they take oil from the ground and they make the wealthy even more wealthy. God help those that get in their way! Corruption, villages devastated, rivers poisoned by effluent, people reduced to living in slum conditions while the oil companies strip their country of all of it's wealth (Save the politicians who give out the contracts and get huge back handers!).
I am just as guilty as anyone of abusing this as I worked in the oil and gas industry for many years and have seen first hand what oil does to these places. Nigeria (Where I worked for 5 years) is just one of many places that has been devastated.
Strip mining (Which I have also seen first hand!) is even worse. Not only do these companies take away the wealth from these people, it takes their health too.

I defer to your personal experience in Africa. My (limited) knowledge of North Sea drilling is completely different, so I assume that the root problem is governance, as the oil companies can behave responsibly if incentivised to do so. Anyway, they do create wealth even if they cause a lot of collateral damage in doing so. This is different to a zero sum situation.

That is the most naïve comment I have ever cast my eyes on. You have the cheek to tell me that I am behaving immorally by investing in Crypto currency and then defend the operation of oil companies? If you think that ANY of them play by the rules then you are sadly deluded.

Not really, just makes me laugh when people question my investment strategy and claim there's is whiter than white when they don't have a clue what damage their own investments do.
Anyway, peace and love to all. mankind

Have just read your post again (Including the bit that you added on after the conversation had moved on!).
Could we just clarify:
You began the conversation by claiming that my method of investment was morally questionable (Of which you were fully entitled to do as it is an opinion), then claimed that you invest in things where everyone is a winner because it produces profit for all to enjoy, only to end up stating that you are happy creating wealth even if the health and welfare of the indigenous people are "Collateral damage"?
I think you have some serious issues Pinnochio (Probably not all related to your investments). That is MY OPINION and I an entitled to have one
For the moderators who are bound to comment on this post or ban me: I would have left this alone if the original statement I refer to had not been altered after the fact.
