The "Green Crowdfunding" or Renewable Energy Crowdfunding is area that can give some returns, (and be social conscious), but it seems that there is not much exposure in web articles. I saw a article about the "Green Crowdfunding" that mentions:

The "Green Crowdfunding" seems almost like Real Estate Crowdfunding. There are projects funded by equity, bonds, and loans.

In my search, I found that, the platforms mentioned above (in Portugal, Sweden and Spain), accepts international investors (besides the national investors, of course). There are also, some platforms in France...
