As many may be aware we recently put the Forum into Maintenance Mode due to widespread disruption from a group of forum members. Our staff team is currently depleted and we were unable to consult or act quickly on this occasion. It's with regret that we have taken the action to permanently ban several forum members. We have no intention of tolerating baiting/ bullying/trolling or whatever you want to call it in the future, it has no place here. With our thanks to the rest of you for bearing with us, we can only hope that we are not forced into this position again.
There was no intention of closing the forum permanently. If we should come to the point where the forum is unsustainable in the future and needs to close we would of course allow access for members to obtain copies of their posts and PMs.

This is a welcome return for sure. In the spirit of openness, can we have a list of the members who have been banned and the reasons for banning them? I'm aware of some high profile members who have been banned (some of who were amongst the first members to join this site). There is no requirement for moderation transparency but its absence does raise questions.

That's for bringing the forum back.
Along with many investors here I have funds on Collateral and seeing the platform website suddenly go offline was a real shock.
So seeing this forum also go offline and with a message about infighting was another worry.
Losing this forum would affect my investment decisions on investing new funds and when to sell out of old ones. I'd have to be even more cautious than I am already.
I've also found it quite entertaining at times.
P2P is said to be the Wild West and this forum has helped me survive in this environment.
I've seen lots of rather tiresome arguing on the forum and have heard various complaints about members being banned or suspended. I have no information about how this all operates. I just think that this is a good place and members should behave in a civilised and respectful manner.
I've stumbled on another proboards site that seems to have been hastily set up. I've also heard about a further invitation-only forum although my presence there hasn't been requested. Without knowing all the background here it seems that having rival forums is not really very helpful.
Let's try to make this one work. Stop arguing endlessly. Give the volunteer moderators a break.
Let's work together to hold the platforms to account, keep a close eye on shady borrowers -and see if we can all make some money.

I am very glad to have the forum back - I was lost without it!  Thanks to the staff who keep the place running. I do think a list of banned members would be interesting, but I cannot see it being practical to do so. Perhaps an idea of the sorts of actions that caused the issue so that we can all avoid may be more realistic? I'm relieved that it was not me who caused the issues. |

The forum staff see no need to publicly name and shame those individuals that have been banned from this forum for repeatedly ignoring the forum rules. Many forum users use the same forum alias across multiple forum and social media sites, including those not connected with p2p investing, and publicly associating their alias with negativity is not something that should be undertaken lightly.
There are occaisons when the forum staff feel a more detailed explanation behind our actions is appropriate, but this is not one of those occaisons.

It's good to have the forum back. When I clicked on the link on my phone, which is placed on my home screen because it is so often used, and I found the forum was offline due to troublemakers it felt like somebody had cut my arm off.
However I think this was a very sensible move because I have had experience of being a moderator on an internet forum and there are so many idiots on the internet and you have to have a real-life and sometimes it is safer just to shut it down so you do not have to worry about it and feel the need to keep logging in at all hours and disrupting your life to check there is nothing illegal or defamatory that has been posted.
I have no idea who has been banned but I am glad that the rotten eggs have been banned and that is the best way to keep order in my opinion. I hope the tools are there to ban people by email address and IP address and other things but I know that it is very easy for people to rejoin if they really want to. I hope this shot from the bows will deter people from misbehaving and encourage everybody to abide by the rules. Use the forum properly and with respect or you will lose it.
I was only going to make a post about all the excellent 4 and 5 star reviews that have appeared over the last couple of days on trustpilot for Lendy. I have to say this caught me by surprise but I shall leave it at that.

Like sarahcount, my primary motivation is making money so I won't pursue the point. However, I will say that I get very suspicious when decisions cannot be publicly examined as they rarely hold up to scrutiny. I have been on the sharp end of some overly sensitive moderation here myself and I think it undermines the whole forum when decisions are taken to ban long standing contributors for reasons which may amount to nothing more than a personal dislike.

Firstly, i'm happy the forums back up, i find it an invaluable resource for the P2P sector. This forum is also one the best conducted forums i've been part of on any subject, so i am grateful the work administrators and moderators do. I agree it was a sensible move to suspend the forum while a situation was dealt with. However i'm now left checking my own behaviour in lieu of any kind indication of what it was that over stepped the mark.
I am aware of the rules and do try and consider anything i post in respect to the rules, but i'm also aware some may contribute with emotion given various circumstances and i wouldn't necessarily want that policed. I see it as everybody's forum with a shared interest in P2P. Of course bullying and not constructive 'trolling' should be zero tolerance.
I'm thinking slightly protective about wanting to preserve a good and valuable forum, but i think i until there is a clearer definition of what is and isn't acceptable, this is not a situation that will get any easier to manage. This is what happens when a successful forum grows but to survive it will need to be regulated and controlled. Granted staff are volunteers and this requires work but it's an inevitability, if the forum is continue the good work it has already done.

Sarah I found that other board too, with a few posts from January this year. I'm not a social media user for the most part but must say being left without access to this forum was quite unsettling.
