I don't live anywhere near the south sadly. Is anyone able to attend and ask the suitable questions?

It sounds like this year's Lendy Cowes Week will be the biggest yet. A live music stage has been announced. Wonder who the headline act will be.

Update from lendy: The headline act is due to be confirmed shortly.
Update from lendy: We have seen documentary evidence that agreement has been reached between Cowes Week and the headline act, and that funds are available to satisfy the headline acts financial demands.
Update from Lendy: Funds are due to be transferred from the headline act to Cowes week by the end of next week.
Update from Lendy: There has been delay in the transfer of funds due to the headline acts bank. This is an international transaction.
Update from Lendy: the issue with the bank acting on behalf of the headline act has been resolved. However the bank acting on behalf of Cowes Week is raising questions which is currently preventing the transfer of funds.
Update from Lendy: Althouigh funds have not been transferred yet, we have received additional confirmation that Cowes Week are still very much interested in securing the headline act, and that the headline act will accept their offer
Update from Lendy: the finance house that was providing Cowes Week with the funding to sign the headline act has withdrawn their offer. Nonetheless, there are serveral alternative lines of finance which were previously crawling over each other to provide the funding. We therefore expect new finance to be in place very shortly.
Update from Lendy: the alternative finance provider, Cowes week, and the headline act are in discussion and we expect repayment shortly.
Update from Lendy: There has been a delay in the transfer of funds from the alternative finance borrower to Cowes Week and hence to the headline act. We expect this problem to be resolved shortly.
Update from Lendy: Cowes week has now passed. There will be another one next year. At that point its possible that our headline act may be re-engaged then. In the meantime, be aware that Cowes are often on the receiving end of BS.

Does anybody know roughly how much Lendy will have paid to sponsor this event? I've no idea but I can't imagine it's a small sum.

But I would have thought this was an ideal opportunity for the disgruntled to generate a load of adverse publicity for Ly. I don't know the format of Cowes week, but I would have thought a coordinated attempt by lenders to padlock themselves to the most expensive boats would have got a lot of attention.

Why would any sensible lender want to spread adverse publicity on Lendy? perhaps these guys with such thoughts should padlock themselves to a solid object and throw away the key.

Does anybody know roughly how much Lendy will have paid to sponsor this event? I've no idea but I can't imagine it's a small sum. Around £500k pa? From Jan 2011: "The injection of sponsor funds, believed to be worth up to £1.5 million to 2013, will bring down the cost of entry fees and make a raft of other new initiatives possible, explained Cowes Week CEO Stuart Quarrie." __ www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/sailing/8288228/Cowes-Week-2011-regatta-ends-34-month-search-to-find-new-sponsor-in-Aberdeen-Asset-Management.html(But event sponsorship for anything other than truly 'premier' events has been declining, so with AAM pulling out in 2015 _ although they contributed in 2016 _ the Cowes board may have been open to 'offers'.) The cost to Lendy will be higher than just the sponsorships money _ that just gets your name over the door, the partying costs extra. (Although companies spend on schmoozing anyway, so it may be considered as already budgeted.) Personally I have no issue. It's their profits they are eating into and it's generating exposure _ all but a handful of existing investors would be grateful for additional interesting / funding it generates.

I think xpubman1 was probably alluding to the hope that a steady stream of new chums might allow the disenchanted to sell up and leave, whereas negative publicity might just bring the whole temple down.
I don't subscribe to that view, personally, I'd rather call a spade a ****** shovel, and anyway there are entirely too many loans that a new chum (or even a thousand of them) can't buy you out of since they are suspended, defaulted, cratered, in legal process, or whatever other term Ly apply at the moment.
"Pass the ticking parcel" was a favourite FC game, which is probably not ideal for further fanout.

Are you strictly "buy and hold" now?

Does anybody know roughly how much Lendy will have paid to sponsor this event? I've no idea but I can't imagine it's a small sum. Whatever it is, I don't think it is sensible to sponsor leisure events whilst the contributors are waiting to have their money back from failed projects.
