Birmingham: Thunder Storms/Flash Flooding.

Many of you will know that I live North of the Border yet I have family and friends to the South and one of my best friends lives in Birmingham. 

I woke this morning to the news from the radio saying that Birmingham had been hit very hard last night by a severe thunder and lightning storm accompanied by heavy rain and flash flooding.

I have not managed to make contact with my friend to check that they and their home are safe, I've tried several times this morning to get a connection but to no avail.

Please if there are any fellow members living in Brum or surrounds could I ask for an update on the situation and in particular what parts of the City were hit by flooding; I would appreciate your help in sharing your local knowledge.
