So I was getting somewhat annoyed at Zopa falling all over the place and the pages seem to load ok but then the load wheel in the tab seems to carry on. It would seem from loading pages on Vivaldi that about 1M of additional data is being loaded in addition to the screen having already loaded.
Being a nosey old sold I decided to start inspecting the code and found a few strange items in the code.
1. <!-- Google Code for Remarketing tag -->
2. <!-- Eloqua Tracking Code -->
3. <!-- Google Analytics tracking for new account set up Jun 2016 -->
4. <!-- Bing tracking pixel code -->
interestingly as well the comment code for the first item says
<!-- Remarketing tags may not be associated with personally identifiable information or placed on pages related to sensitive categories. For instructions on adding this tag and more information on the above requirements, read the setup guide: google.com/ads/remarketingsetup -->
Whilst I accept the code I am seeing this in is probably not very identifiable with my access its all a little worrying that I have not agreed - to my knowledge - that Zopa can use my access to Zopa as a marketing tool. In fact at first I thought that the reason that the current guise of Zopa was falling about all over the place was because I had a number of extensions that prevent this type of stuff. But I've tried to make my end as fast as possible using 4 different browsers and whilst each has idiosyncrasies on the Zopa stuff
Sadly I did not check Zopa last week for any of this as I thought that the new Auth stuff was the issue, but the delay at the end of each screen load does seem to be down to these elements at the end of each screen.
When I was working in web page design 10 years ago most of my stuff was internal to one of the largest comms companies in the world so it was not subject to this kind of stuff. A part of me thinks that some of this stuff is not coded from the bottom up but using tools to code the screens and fluff is being added without anyone's knowledge although to be fair the teams involved here should probably know better. If the blog is to be believed.
Of course I may also be way off beam and its all just sloppy coding causing the varying degrees of timeouts and lost security information or worse sec info not being passed from screen to screen correctly - assuming that is the methodology used. Just terribly annoying trying to get anything done on Zopa at the moment.
If anyone else knows this stuff feel free to comment.
