Why would you spend £15K on a bike that's not even worth half that ?

Why would you spend £15K on a bike that's not even worth half that ? It must be a hobby, which suggests that the borrower will be keen to repay in order to get their bike back.

Why would you spend £15K on a bike that's not even worth half that ? Because some people do things for love, not just for money. I know, I know - Hard for us investing folks to understand but there you go! It's a lovely thing that clearly has had a lot of money spent on it and the £6000 valuation is very reasonable I would say. I'd have a dabble if I could be bothered with £150 loan parts, but I can't.

On the plus side it redeemed early last time, IIRC. Although investors did experience a capital loss on a motorbike in the early days of FS.

That thing is a one-off special. Oh yea you can rebuild it for £6000, but it has to be built first. I suspect the donor bike will have been about £4000 and there's a lot of money gone in on top of that. I think the wheels and forks alone are at least another couple of thousand on top of that(IF they were second hand, much more new), all the engineering work to make everything fit and for the new rear mono suspension. All that chrome and polishing. Plenty of money gone on to that bike. Pity is still has a clanky underpowered old BMW at the heart of it....
