If you backup your home drive often you could try restoring the profile from a previous version. It is normally located in ~/.mozilla/firefox/[8 letters and numbers].default.
If you don't have a recent backup, it is often worth clearing the cache and cookies. Do other sites you normally use look okay?

Thanks for replying, Other sites are fine, I have tried clearing history, cache cookies . I do not think I have a backup that will work.

Apart from the obvious advice to use this as a nudge to consider your backup strategy I can't think of much else to help. However, it does seem a bit familiar to me - I think I used to have a similar problem when I used selenium.
Have you tried updating the firefox version? If that fails you could close firefox, move your account from the location I mentioned above, open firefox and then it will create a new account to see if this is better. There are lots of better descriptions of this sort of thing out there.
Edit: I should add that Firefox 61.0.1 (64 bit) is fine for me on Ubuntu 16.04.

All my photo's and files are copied onto various memory sticks and an old computer so that when I wish to upgrade to a new version of linux it is easy apart from the bookmarks on firefox, and there is probably an easy way round that. Now that I have found out it works on Opera I can live with the issue if there is not an easy solution.
Many thanks for responding.

Walktall7 This is exactly what I get when using marina wifi with a poor signal and low speed, but it does happen with other sites too.

It's sometimes caused by the fact that the CCS hasn't loaded (tends to be the case on slower connections), just hard refresh the page and it will usually reload fine.

... or you've accidentally gone "View ... Page Style ... No Style" -- put it back on "Basic Style" if so.

None of that worked I have just refreshed firefox and it is now allowing me to see this website and use it normally. Many thanks for responding.
