Today was the first time Lendy have sent me a text message advertising new tranches to invest in. When I checked my phone and seen that I had received a message from Lendy I got a little bit excited thinking that one of my loans had been repaid and thought this is a good new idea to communicate with us. But no, just asking for further funds to fund tranches that are not getting close to being filled.... This new method of communication isn't going to get the tranches filled Lendy, only repayments and loan recoveries will. I simply don't have any more money to invest!

I had this too and I think it was sent mistakenly as all my preferences for SMS are turned off. Lendy Support

Got the same.
I do wonder if these things are even compliant with GDPR. I never opted in for these things, and the phone number was used for verification.
Would this count as legitimate interest? And where is the necessity of using a text when an email has already been sent?

And where is the necessity of using a text when an email has already been sent? I had those preferences set to off too, so I naturally assumed that it was a scammer and ignored it. We'll if it did actually come from Lendy then it turns out that I was right.

Presumably some sort of system error, I checked my preferences and SMS messages are not authorised. I would anticipate an apology and explanation, history would suggest this will be by SMS. Not overly bothered by a one off (technically a 2 off today) but could really do without any repeats. Maybe just a 'new guy' being a bit over enthusiastic. Edit in relation to mrclondon post that follows, both of mine were disabled.

Not sure if it helps anyone else, but there are two separate locations for the SMS privacy options - I had one still enabled.

Neither of mine were and I got two messages - I won't get any more though - they no longer have a real phone number

It irritates me when companies send me messages on my mobile. So whenever someone does this I reset my contact number to be their sales desk!

I emailed support and they apologised, but didn't explain what went wrong.

I received the same idiotic SMS pleas to invest in 2 loans in which I am not involved (thankfully). My account clearly shows I did not ask for or permit Lendy to contact me by text message. It is a very serious breach of privacy but no surprise with this lot.
Some might think it was either a sign of a totally flawed data base or a display of gross incompetence.
Also got the usual e mail to remind me of the wonderful extra opportunity to chuck more after tax paid cash into further tranches of loans that are never ending.
Gosh, lucky that I managed to resist that attempt to get more cash from me.
