It is good to see FS making more site visits a more cost effective way to monitor progress is as a requirement of the loan at least 1 panoramic camera be installed that has full view of the site. On renovations then a few can be installed internally.
These cameras are <£30 have onboard storage that can be remotely accessed or sent to a cloud account. Fs could easily on a weekly, monthly basis monitor projects.
Ideally all investors in a loan would have password protected direct access to the cameras and could then see that there is at least some activity and delivery of goods, rather than the borrower saying “ It’s ok mate we are all on site working hard and oh the timber frames were delivered “
Not only would this improve site security there is absolutely no reason not to do this. FS wouldn’t even have to monitor the cameras as I am sure investors would check in on their investments ie. several thousand monitors on a daily basis that would flag any failings on behalf of the borrowers.

I've wondered similar with regards to FS gaining updates. I was thinking it could even just be a live skype tour which starts at the street (so no doubt about location) and then tours the site. While I would personally like to see a live webcam picture, I would imagine that would be a huge security risk- for the price of a £25 investment in the loan, you can exactly monitor when the site is unoccupied and when valuable goods are delivered....

Access could be given Only during working hours. There should be no increase in risk as anyone walking past can see the same thing . 1or 2 still frames could be posted daily and once a month the borrower give a 15min video update. The onus should be on the borrower to prove they are progressing otherwise they would be subject to a physical visit and associated costs paid by the borrower. These are not small sums of money 💴 in the majority of loans and I think accountability is a small price to pay to assure lenders there is prudent use of their money. For the the majority of honest borrowers this should not be a problem and would be of benefit to building companies who could show in their tendering for future jobs that they can deliver in a timely manner corroborated by photograph evidence.

Certain projects on Lendy have/had webcams set up by the contractor, Please turn me over is known to keep an eye on them.
You could watch DFL012 go tits up 24 hrs a day ... the assumption of course is that someone at the platform is watching them or if not they will take notice of a lender contacting them.
Alternatively you could just employ a decent IMS who regularly visits the build and provides comprehensive reports on progress/costs etc and highlights any concerns, and team at the platform who understnads them & can act on them. You could even make them availiable to lenders. Thats the correct way to do development loans and a camera wont achieve that. On small scale renevations that dont require IMS reports its an option but still easily circumvented. (oops knocked it with a plank)
Not to mention the privacy issues (poor builder reading his adult mag) Oh & cameras dont watch money 'wandering' off/being mispent.
PS Youre a god, sure you are omnipresent at all projects and keeping an eye, have deployed scarab minions in proxy. Advocating electronic means suggests your are falling down on the job and perhaps we need a 24 hr God cam to check youre not slacking (Now on the BBC its time for Godwatch with Bill Oddie?)

Agree with ilmoro . Webcams are nice but can give a false sense of security. Anyone regularly watching DFL012 would think things were going well when that wasn't the case at all. Proper loan management and regular IMS reports are the way to go. Webcams are good to have but only once the IMS reporting is in place.
