It will just have been some automatic speech to text software that did that. Very common for these to make mistakes and sometimes highly amusing.

<snip> Pacific updates on pacific loans? <snip> Subtitles confirm it. Can you imagine that moron calling up a borrower asking for a pacific day and pacific amount of repayment? It's no wonder they aren't taking their repayments seriously. This is some kind group nightmare.

How can Lendy give a more detailed Q&A session on "pacific" loans (alright, I'll put that down to his Mancunian accent) when by Lendy's own admission they can't provide any more detail on what investors really want to know on the defaulted loans as it could jeopardise their recovery process?

Thanks, chaps, for saving me that four minutes. I can do something far more positive and constructive with that time, like watch cat videos on facebook.

Severely unimpressed by that.
For perspective - my day job is being paid by someone who wants to know why a person / group is acting in a certain way.
Obviously the internet being the internet and people being people I can’t really write “pacifically” (sic) what I want to say but there were a couple of interesting – from a behavioural standpoint – flags that were raised.
Firstly the prosody affected. Ok, so the guy is giving a presentation but he is trying to influence his audience with the tone of his delivery. This has nothing to do with the bare bone facts. Speaking in a slow, calming (and in only my personal opinion a slightly patronising) voice doesn’t tell me about what is going on, it tells me about what he wants me to think is going on.
Secondly manipulative use of the fairness bias. Human’s react strongly to unfairness. I mean massively. This reaction makes very good evolutionary sense. We probably come with it built into us as it is common in ancestors (there is a great YouTube video with Capuchin monkeys which demonstrates this).
While I agree that there are very good reasons not to put sensitive information on a public forum insinuating that one user could spoil it for everyone else is incredibly manipulative. To be clear I’m not disagreeing with the fact that one person’s post could result in the scenario that was laid out. Sometimes the difference can be subtle which can also be why it is so effective. I’m pointing out that the presentation was attempting to wrestle control of the fairness bias. Essentially saying it’s unfair of you to criticise us and what we’re doing. I have the joy of meeting a lot of anti-social and manipulative people and (insert mandatory mitigating statement) am in no way suggesting that any of the speakers are either, but it is a very common tactic employed by the former to get their way. It allows them to carry on with their behaviour with a bulwark against being sanctioned. Saying – in effect, whether intended or not – that I can’t criticise you or you won’t acknowledge my criticism because it might ruin things for everyone is pretty Machiavellian.
Thirdly why are they telling us now? There has to be a benefit for a behaviour to be enacted – typically people don’t go around switching lights switches on in the middle of the day. There has to be a reason to do so. I don’t know what the reason is and don’t think that speculating about it is helpful. There is though a reason why they chose to release the presentation today, rather than last week or next year.
I have to be grateful though for Lendy’s marketing communication. The video after the first Cowes week they sponsored was the prompt for me to get out. They felt the need to tell me what a good time they had on the marketing budget. I felt the need to cash out. I’m just on the hook for the few small bits and pieces.
Whatever happened to the days when things sold in a fraction of a second on the SM.

I wish I had watched it back then! Thank you for your views. Any reason you can think to make people even more angry by telling them a webinar would happen and then post a promo video?

It does seem like a box ticking exercise is taking place, and they're doing a poor job of it. I suspect the regulator has become involved. Over the last fortnight it is as if they have been handed a list of things they are not doing or are doing very poorly, and told to remedy immediately.
They have then gone about doing them in a very shallow and unsubstantial way, impressing no one. It's just more of the same, doubling down on exactly the same flawed logic and bad practice.

Just like the regulators require the FX brokerages to have "educational webinars", seems someone from the FCA gave Lendy a tap on the shoulder and told them to start doing the same. Not sure Lendy [even now] understand what it is they have to do!!!!

I am at a loss to understand how annoying their lenders even more can possibly be of benefit to Lendy?
If they have a video to post, then fine, but why call it a webinar and encourage lenders to watch it at the specific time of 1pm? That just raises expectations and wastes people's time. For what?

A step in the right direction in terms of intent perhaps, but a webinar it was not... Also, if Lendy are so worried about what might be given away on a public forum why don't they host thier own forum for accredited investors?

Who is demanding this box be ticked? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Some might ask who was paid a fat fee to produce that erroneously labelled "Webinar" of patronising garbage?
This pre recorded bit of hand wringing "don't blame us - please be nice to us" with no possible interaction just displays cowardice on the part of the entire management Board at Lendy.
Applying the Lendy Bull**** translator to the Webinar:-
" Hello morons. [long pause and adopt a forlorn look] Sorry we have not bothered to keep an eye on so many of our wonderfully over valued projects but we have been far to busy having a great time spending our up front fees and policing and adding to Trustpilot to do any real management. Don't you lot realise that organising and drinking at Cowes takes a lot of time to arrange and then to recover? We have no intention of telling you anything that you did not already know in this wonderful bit of self justifying PR. Please stop asking difficult question because it upsets us. We will produce more of this type of rubbish soon so we can pretend that everything is going smoothly. Please put all your remaining spare cash into the hat Lendy Wealth and then write a super 5 star review for us on Trustpilot. It will make you all feel better. Now get stuffed".
