Having email addresses as usernames is another level of stoopid that some P2P platforms should drop.
Making things a pain to change is a bit pre-internet.

You can buy a domain for under £3 and have a different email address for every site that way you know if your data is passed on. ie. P2P@“whatever.co.uk” Difficult to misuse if you have infinite email addresses.

My point was more that some platforms won't allow you to do something as minor as change your contact details online - requiring manual security checks. All because the username is an email address. If I want to speak to humans, I'll open an account with the Post Office.
