You're wasting your time. They won't change it so like it or lump it. The colouring and fonts are awful and I pity those who struggle with their eyesight but they won't listen to their customers so best to move on.

Firefox OK for me too, all RS functions operate, width OK (just) because I'm on 1440 x 900. Woe betide those on non widescreen monitors. Still think design is amateurish though. far too much scrolling down to do.

After the upgrade, my thoughts...
Purely subjective I know, but the general layout, design, colour scheme I actually prefer (although this is a marginal call... I didnt think anything was wrong with the old one.)
Two changes I dont like though:
1) The total matched volume is no longer shown on the homepage. Although not crucial, I liked to keep an eye on the matched volume/churn going through the market and can no longer do this without logging in. I notice that many (if not all) p2p sites in the UK have this info displayed on their homepage. Obviously as part of an attempt to offer up legitimacy and in a relatively fledgling industry. Its removal I dont believe is an accident in this case. I suspect its a matter of "we're better then that now" etc. This may very well be the case and be a commercially valid decision to take but from a personal level, I do miss having this information displayed on the homepage.
2) When having an unmatched order in a queue, bringing up the 'market depth' screen its now slightly less clear which part of it is my money (it was highlighted before, its no longer highlighted.) Having experience of RS before the change, I can handle this adjustment but do wonder why this is considered "an improvement."
Although we are yet to see it, I think that the changes in the pipeline that are far more important havent been discussed... namely:
1) The credit team working Saturdays and Sundays - surely this is a progressive/improvement made by RS?
2) All deposits into your account are to be "fast tracked" into your RS account on the same day. Again, surely this is an improvement?
I must add, I access RS via the chrome browser (on both desktop and android smart phone) and therefore, may have unwittingly not been subjected to temporary problems caused by the new site. I have full sympathy with people who are affected in this way but at the same time, I ask them that surely patience and knowledge that humans dislike change of any kind in the short term are reasons to keep the faith with RS?
In short, Im a little underwhelmed at the stylistic changes and a little bemused at the opposition to them.
NOTES: Edits made shortly after posting to correct spelling mistakes.

There are standards! From another thread:
SENDA (the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001) makes it compulsory for public sector organisations to make their web pages easy to read for all users. The private sector should do the same. W3C sets the standards for all sites whether public or private sector. The W3C standard for contrast minimum for text and images is 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text). I’m not sure what the contrast ratio of RS pale purple on white is exactly but it looks like about 2:1 to me ie it's a pain to read.

Wonder whether Ratesetter will win 'platform of the year' next year with their redesign?
I am guessing Ratesetter decision makers are banking on the idea that people are resistant to change and that they just need a steady nerve and to hold their guns. I imagine they will see it as a sign of weakness if they backtrack/tweak the UI - my own thoughts is that they have made a mistake - everyone makes mistakes but the real test of the quality of the organisation is whether they have the balls to admit it or compound the mistake by deluding themselves that the silent majority like it. Just used the transfer funds part of the website for the first time since the updates. OK, so I held back a bit on my previous posts ref. the website. But really, what ARE they thinking of ?? I actually got eye strain - literally - thanks to the combination of oversized fonts, colours and whitespace. I've actually never come across any other website which exhibits those sizing issues.
I'm just off to take an aspirin and lie down in a dark room to rest my eyes.

I wonder to what extent the current strange market conditions (6.4%, only 180k in queue on 5 yr) is down to the new website as opposed to something that would have happened anyway.
Perhaps all the borrowers love in, what with them being young and hip and cool and with it and whatever, they are flocking to borrow more dosh to buy lots of cool, new, purple, with it (but ultimately naff) things.
Meanwhile us lenders hate it, what with being old and creaky hipped, and generally without it (except some money to lend obviously).

gnasher - It is the end of the month, which tends to be spike time. But more so than usual this month. I'm sure the redesign has something to go with it. I'm travelling this week and just logged in with my netbook. It was bad enough on my PC but with the netbook it's truly dreadful. Many of the active buttons are off screen to the right so I have to scroll ACROSS as well as down in order to use the site. Quite apart from everything else that is wrong with the redesign, I do not understand why they could not build a site that detects the size of your screen and builds the page to fit.

A quick update from me, as an initial complainant both on here and to RS directly. I'm tagging westonkevRS for his info and input to RS' developers. I've now fixed my inability to access RS at all on my main PC by the simple expedient of installing Google Chrome. Lo and behold, while RS continues to be utterly unusable on IE and Firefox on this machine, it works absolutely perfectly on Chrome. No scrolling, misplaced text on anything else "odd". It's just that I'm now forced to use a browser I don't like and don't need! So problem fixed, but I'm still grumpy since I've had to waste time fixing a problem created by RS and not properly tested by their developers. RS' website is the ONLY one I use regularly which won't display properly on either IE or Firefox, so it's definitely a development issue, not a machine/ graphics card/ user problem. Don't expect a vote from me at next year's "best provider" awards. Oh and for those who urged me to move from XP because it was the probable source of the problem: it wasn't. XP rules!

Well I can use it on Firefox (Win7, rather than XP) but it still looks horrid and works worse. Why It won't work for you I dunno - is your Java, Firefox, etc all up to date? (we'll ignore your OS!!)(I run XP on some machines too). No way I am installing Chrome - got too many browsers already, Ta (and Google need to learn to pay their taxes in the places they do their business).

Yes - every aspect of my Firefox and Java is up to date and totally compatible with RS. That's according to their own browser check on the login screen. Which means their browser checker doesn't work either! DOH! I repeat: EVERY website I use works just fine on both IE and Firefox. Except RS....

They have made £6m in loans so far this week, and look like once again achieving a new weekly lending record. The money must be coming from somewhere.
