I thank you ilmoro . I was pretty much assuming the 'cashback' tag would make it tax free but just wanted to make sure other people were similarly inclined. I note it is listed as other income on the tax statement, outside of the section AC defines as declarable so they would appear to concur (Legacy style statement)

My dashboard has started showing me a 'New Promotion' £150 cashback for investments of £5000 by 7th December.
However, the T&C's say only for new accounts opened since the 1st Sept 2019.
I guess since my account has been open since 2013 I wont qualify (!) ... seems strange that its being shown to me in the first place. chris ??

Edit: "Earn £150 cashback" promotion seems to be linked on the AC "front page" for those who don't have it on their dashboard. T&Cs Apply

I just don’t understand these offers. If AC needs lender money why is my £5k any less valued than a newbie.
If AC wants £5k they am I more likely to deposit it than a new lender. I would CERTAINLY stick another £5k on AC if I got £150. As I won’t, I won’t.

After determining it was for new customers only, I reported it via livechat. The livechat operative agreed it didn't seem right it was displayed to me and would flag it up.
Hasn't re-occurred on most recent login.

The question: would you rather know that the promotion was going on but can't participate, or find out 2nd/3rd hand on the grapevine and then feel that AC were being underhand by hiding the existence of the offer from those that aren't eligible ? :-)

It's obviously aimed at friends and family.

I'm glad I don't qualify having only yesterday initiated an ISA transfer out so I'd have to replace those funds on top of the 5k. That would have peeved me.

It's obviously aimed at friends and family. Do you think Ltd companies that existing investors might happen to "know" would qualify?

Time to wind down my lending with AC if this is how they treat loyal investors by promotion exclusion in preference of current non or new investors.

Time to wind down my lending with AC if this is how they treat loyal investors by promotion exclusion in preference of current non or new investors. Nearly all platforms offer new investor sign-up bonuses, I really don't see what the fuss is about. They're just not usually silly enough to wave it in the face of their existing investors. Btw, I would expect that this new promotion (as with the one that ended yesterday) would be combinable with the refer-a-friend promotion, so if any straggler is yet to sign up to Assetz, has £5k handy, and wants £225 cashback then I can be a good friend to you..

Never a good look for an organisation that treats its loyal existing customers less well than new customers. A black mark against AC for deploying the usual short-sighted marketing gimmicks that we see from insurance companies, internet providers, etc, etc. Couldn't agree more!

I kinda 10% agree, but I'm suffering from Offer Fatigue I'm just ignoring them.... I wonder if others are too?
The other thing is that when I see Offer after Offer after offer; month after month as there has been on AC, it makes me slightly more nervous for the money I have in there. So I feel more comfortable seeing that AC are now targetting more precisely. All the other Offers we're had over the last year or so are probably about keeping us lending despite the concerns over Brexit.

As an investor, it would have been appreciated and valued to have been given the choice to join a promotion or not. This would have given those who did not want to join the choice also.
For any platform to actively say they do not value current investors additional funds is a concern, does this approach by AC also apply to recoveries and lender value ie not a priority. With platform growth the only objective, like some other poor P2P platforms, that are now showing high defaults and poor investor returns, is this now the priority of AC also.
