Email just in:
Banking IT Issues Resolved
Following the website notification regarding the banking issues we have experienced with Barclays, the Bank has informed us that these have now been resolved and we are working through the backlog of payments on the system.
The background to this as part of reinstating our banking access, Barclays had inadvertently deleted our ability to auto-process both payments and withdrawals which it admitted was due to its own IT issues. It was escalated to the highest level internally within the Bank’s IT department and the Bank has confirmed this has been sorted.
As a result, we were having to process each client payment individually which has taken several days to set up. Now we are back up and running, we hope to have the back log completed shortly.
Kind regards,
The Lendy Team

Lendy have publicly stated that their bankers have admitted that they were at fault. [edit: and what the operational impact is of that provider's error is on their (Lendy's) processes.] It would be deeply unwise for Lendy to falsify that claim.

Happy to receive a detailed statement from Lendy regarding these issues but can't help thinking - wouldn't it have been better to mention this 2.5 weeks ago when the problems first began? You know... expectation management and all.

Maybe - and I am all for greater transparency and 'owning the story', etc, etc - but until Lendy's bankers had completed their root cause analysis, failed to find a way of blaming someone / something else, and confessed to their sins; perhaps Lendy didn't feel they were in a strong enough position to issue chapter and verse on the subject.

You know... expectation management and all. I think most people's expectations from Lendy are pretty low. The extra half pint or pint from paid interest for those looking forward to one for the May holiday may get it by the next.

Banners changed to:
"Having resolved our banking issues we continue to work through the backlog of requests and we are working to complete this ASAP"
"Apologies that the monthly platform updates have yet to be issued. These will be published ASAP"

Think Lendy may actually be happy with the distraction of a failure by someone other than them.

Maybe I've become too accustomed to Lendyspeak, but 'ASAP' could be even later than Thursday.

Is it not strange that these IT issues have affected nobody else?
It is a bit like the Simpsons:
I still suspect the FCA are behind it. 'Inadvertently deleted' my arse.

Most likely it was notification to Barclays of Lendy client account controls by the FCA that triggered the problem initially but, rather than simply “pausing” the electronic banking link, Barclays removed it altogether and then struggled to reinstate it in a reasonable timeframe.

Now, at last we have what that seems a PLAUSIBLE explanation. That would explain the scarce amount of info from Lendy over the past weeks.
