I see the SM is back to where it was 18mths ago when -1% discount was a rare beast. It now means any jittery new lenders can get out quickly Tax free when they feel the have made an accecptable return after a big discount is applied.
Those with current loans with >31 ish days to go should be able to liquidate more easily.

I doesn't mean anything of the sort. What it means is that because so much of the active loan book is late and untradeable, there is a much smaller pool of loans ha can be up for sale (I make it 18% of he active loan book, or only £11.9m). Hardly a positive development.

Hardly a positive development. I never said it was a positive development. It does make liquidity easier. Take any part in any loan 4 months or less (other than the ONE big one left at -1% ) and offer it at -1% it will sell. If I don’t buy it on my daily trawls someone else will. IT means anyone not wishing to ever risk holding to maturity can sell and liquidate and buy newer loans. So basically someone can invest and never worry about defaults except on rare atypical occasions.

Unless you are guaranteeing you will buy at -1%? Is there a minimum number of days remaining that you'll buy at? (ie nothing under 40 days left, or 50?) (Personally, I think SMs should be banned, but Pandora's Box is open now. A discussion for another day / thread, though)

Which should cover most amounts for those wishing to liquidate regularly. The benefit of SM goes way beyond just selling parts. The Tax benefit outweighs any financial gain from discount or premium. SM allows so means to liquidate if required. The SM is only of benefit to those aware of the risks and positive acceptance and even a questionnaire of investors before being allowed to participate in the SM of any P2P would weed out the naive and vulnerable investors. Not it so much on the selling side. Although a clearer indication of what returns you are getting for selling a particular part might help. The biggest problem is to understand the Discount you are offering is not a reduction in APR but a proportion of your capital.
