Saw an advert a few weeks ago for Wellesley but was surprised to see an advert on TV last night for Bondara. Surprised me that they would be advertising in this way until half way through the advert when I realised my mistake Not sure if this is deemed inappropriate or close to advertising (I make no recommendations as to the company or their products) so would appreciate if one of the mods bracknellboy oldnick jimbo will amend this post as approriate

I don't have Sky or Virgin or any of those so would have just been on one of the terrestrial channels

I've removed the link as websites selling sex toys are at best incidental to the purposes of this forum. Please don't expose my computer to this sort of thing guys and gals.

Thanks oldnick, was merely surprised how close to an existing P2P site the name was. I will also be recommending you for the 'quote of the month' award with

This just shows that anyone choosing a new product name should try the short list in Google. isePankur had lots of discussions about an international name which would be good in many languages, but unfortunately when you Google Bondora the top of the list shows the ad for the other one.

I don't get the same hallucinations on Old Peculiar - I hesitate to ask, but what have you seen?

Apparently a Rabbit is one of the best selling 'devices' on the website. You would only remove this post if I go any further in that explanation

Lets leave those who have no reason to think otherwise that said Rabbit has floppy ears, a white tail and goes by the name of Bright Eyes, Amber or similar.

I don't have Sky or Virgin or any of those so would have just been on one of the terrestrial channels I'm guessing from the thread that it probably wasn't Virgin.

when you Google Bondora the top of the list shows the ad for the other one. Bondara isn't on the first page of my Google UK search results for Bondora. Search results can be based on previous browsing or searching history, not just the raw unweighted search results. Probably means that you have pet rabbits for your children. Or like a nice rabbit stew. I caught a glimpse of the add, recognised the not quite right name but don't remember anything else about it.

Well James I also use Google UK for searching, but I don't keep their cookies and never sign in, so maybe they show different ads when you have a French ip address? I just checked again and the ad is still shown. These ads always seem vaguely related to the search and are very annoying so I would be interested if you have a way of blocking them, Adblock Plus doesn't seem to do it.
Oh and I don't see ads for similar hobbies during other searches, so the trigger is the name Bondora and nothing personal.

Where are you seeing the ads? At the top of the search results or on the right side of them?
I also use ABP. If you haven't tried them yet you might try adding EasyList, Peter Lowe's list and EasyPrivacy to your filter subscriptions.
ABP also has a filter preference "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" that is enabled by default. The Read more link says what it enables. You could try turning that off to see what difference it makes. From looking at the rules a very large range of Google-specific ads are permitted if you leave it enabled.
