Trump is now odds on to win, I think I did a little sick in my mouth. Frankly, whatever happens, it's just scary that something approaching half of the USA thinks he's done a good job. About 70/30 for Trump right now. It does validate your theory that betting odds are more reliable than polls. Definitely scary to see a president claiming that counting all the votes would be stealing the election. Not a good day for democracy. Betting odds showing a complete turnaround in the last few hours - 80/20 for Biden now.

He likely gets Wisconsin but the margin is so small it doesn't give me a lot of confidence for Michigan and Pennsylvania.

... At least Trump has to go in 4 years time ... Are you sure about this? My worry is that this might be the last chance to get him out. If he has 4 more years he'll likely try, and probably succeed, to change the constitution to allow himself to rule in perpetuity. He's seen and admired what Putin has achieved and quite likes the taste of dictatorship. The trump dynasty may not even end with his demise as hell try to line his son up for succession. I'm not sure if I've just had a bad night's sleep or if I'm actually still in a nightmare 😞 I gave the post a like but the suggestions a

Pleased to see the markets are on the rebound as JB get closer to the magic 270.
I've seen a couple of Republican 'press conferences' in the last couple of days. They trawl out somebody who alleges that they saw something suspicious, but nobody is allowed to question them. Doesn't come across as very professional.

Probably - but not sure any other party would have had him from the start (the decision probably rests with Fox news/propaganda anyway!) The press conferences just follow the usual path of throwing enough random statements/mud and hope they stick.A bit like every speech or interview has "they said........" without saying who "they" are

The press conferences just follow the usual path of throwing enough random statements/mud and hope they stick.A bit like every speech or interview has "they said........" without saying who "they" are At the Nevada press conference earlier today the Republicans produced a little old lady who complained bitterly that she had turned up to vote in person, but was turned away because somebody else had already used her vote. The authorities later confirmed she was turned away because she was trying to vote twice.
In a later press conference in Arizona there were no members of the public with spurious claims, and people were allowed to ask questions. Unfortunately, the people asking the question didn't have a mic so you could hear the answer but not the question.
Also interesting that in Arizona (Trump is behind in the count) the chant from the crowd was count every vote, whereas in Pennsylvania (Trump is ahead) the mantra is stop the count. What a bunch of t*ssers.

Wow, stock markets on a real tear - FTSE + 4.3%, Europe +4.1%, Vanguard World +3.6% .
edit: Sorry, just catching up, hadn't seen there was some good vaccine news, I was in Lidl. Bananas were on offer, which is perhaps now besides the point as my portfolio increased by about the amount I spend on my entire life for a year whilst I was out.
edit2: Don't go hunting for cheap bananas in Lidl UK, I'm in Greece.

I hope you got your SMS permission to leave the house! Funnily enough I also saw the stock market surge first, wondered why (something election related I wondered?), then a few minutes later saw the breaking vaccine news.

Still, great news overall.

Largest jumps, not surprisingly, were airlines, travel, cinemas and hospitality (eg Rolls Royce or CINE ~ 50% up), many other around 30%. Banks and oil up 10%, too; Gold going down. Not that I have much in these ..

Ah well maybe I'll be grateful tomorrow if they climb higher. Or maybe not if people start remembering Brexit still hasn't been sorted .... But yes great news that a vaccine may be on the way. Am sure the Daily Mail will find a scary downside by tomorrow's edition
