Court action against publically funded bodies by small investors would be heavy going. Strengthening existing legal processes has a down side but on balance might be a better option.

Interesting.... I definitely remember one bloke (Gordon?) but nobody else. That would have been around 2017 so not at the start by any means.
Somehow makes it all worse if the directors invited you to their house (or even office?).

What contingencies/backups/safeguards do Collateral have in place in the event of platform failure from various scenarios (flood, bankruptcy, TOTAL & catastrophic system failure, hacking, etc).
I mean proper, full DD on how it would all "work" in such an event/s, and why it will "work" and why we s/would have complete peace of mind that it will "work" in such an event."

Greenwood2 A fellow Forumite was going to pay the COLL offices a visit and kindly asked on here what questions we would like to pose. I don't recall we ever got an answer back but by then I was already elegantly exiting COLL anyway. I still got badly burned though because I didn't think they'd hit the buffers quite as suddenly as they did, thanks to the FCA's interference and Gross Incompetence. Beside the criminal "Professional" Valuations ( ) one of the most serious limitations of P2P is liquidity, you can rarely get out quickly as/when/if you want. Which is why I won't now touch any P2P with a bargepole, and haven't for years.

Do I spot double standards? FCA fines Metro Bank PLC £10 million and publishes Decision Notices for two of its former executive directors. When the FCA finally found out that the Col entry was incorrect on the FCA register the Chief Executive and later the full exec was informed. Were investors entitled to receive the correct information? It appears not. The appropriate action (in the FCA's eyes) was to quietly alter the register and to allow the changed entry to lapse, no need for investors to know. This action by the FCA directly led to investors continuing to invest (approx £12m added) most of which has been lost. Will the FCA and the individuals concerned be examined as they have been in the Metro Bank case?

Oh the irony, today the FCA published FCA sets out ideas to improve information provided to retail investors.
Perhaps I should point out that the register states " We try to ensure that the information on this site is correct. However, we cannot guarantee its accuracy and do not accept liability for errors or missing information. Some material is sent to us by other parties who are responsible for supplying us with accurate information." In spite of the statutory duty to maintain an accurate register.

So pardon my ignorance - what is the point in having a FCA register if they do not accept responsibility for it's accuracy. Also since when did a single paragraph disclaimer exempt an organisation from being outside of a statutory duty.
I'll pin a sign to a locked room 'I cannot accept liabilty for what happens to the C****e Bros after spending one minute inside the room with them'!!!!
The FCA are rapidly becoming bigger and certainly fatter con merchants than many a failed P2P platform.

Ahh but of course to quote Mr Steward (head of enforcement) "If you're on the Register, it means we've checked you out and there are safeties in place if things go wrong." Experience and FOI's suggest otherwise ........
