Any of you who haven't completely given up on P2P might be interested in this. If you've ever watched "This Farming Life" on the BBC in the last couple of years you will already be aware of Steve Mitchell and his farm of water buffalo in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. btw, if you haven't watched the show before, I can highly recommend it. Anyway, Steve is raising money to fund his project to become the first producer of Buffalo Mozzarella in Scotland. Here's a link to The Buffalo Farm website with details about the two levels of lending (and the donation only option) and the perks for lenders. www.thebuffalofarm.co.uk/buffalo-farm-mozzarellaNote that the return for lenders is in vouchers for product not cash so it won't be suitable for everyone.

Seems that vouchers are for use in their store or to pay for hire/catering at their premises. So unless they have a UK wide distribution arrangement, only practical for people in the area.
Also, I couldn't see any commitment to prices, so you would be committing to payment in an unknown amount of produce.

Hi propman
I queried about the 'in store' aspect, as I don't live locally either, and they will accept a phoned-in order as it has to be processed through their till system. They were also willing to accept the voucher towards the delivery cost as well which I thought was pretty fair.

I have watched him on the tv and was actually thinking, when his sponsors dropped out, that I would be happy to support his mozzarella business.
I looked to buy some of his meat on line a while ago but a lot of it was not available a bit of an off put.
Edit: Should add it was about Christmas time so I expect he was sold out, so not really a fair test.

Update for general information - The Buffalo Farm has reached £210,400 so far on their way to the £800,000 target. Anyone still considering this project can follow along on their facebook page... www.facebook.com/BuffaloFarm

Just thought I'd put a gently nudge out there...
The Buffalo Farm is doing well with its lending project so far and reached at least £560,000. The target of £800,000 is in sight and needs a little push to get it over the line. So if anyone is interested in supporting this project check out the links above. There are plenty of video updates and Q&A videos on their facebook page. And if BBCs 'This Farming Life' is still available on iPlayer it's definitely worth a watch.

I ordered one of their sample packs, very quick delivery, very well packed in an insulated box with ice packs that were still frozen. The buffalo meat seems very much like beef. The shop has a good range of other meat too. I think I will dip a toe.
