Members of the forum have now Surpassed £20k in global microfinance loans helping female entrepreneurs, green causes, supporting education, refugees and many other causes. I originally questioned whether I was delusional in pressing this charitable version of P2P but people have rallied around the concept and achieved incredible things. In the world of P2P, which has proven it can at times be murky, misleading and scandalous, this is a shining light of admirable good will. In fact this applies to both those who have lent .... and the borrowers on KIVA! Where millionaire business men have defrauded and fooled us, farmers in Rwanda, shop owners in Laos and students in Peru continue to repay the loans which have aided their development. The next target which would be amazing to hit would be our 50th member, if you would like it to be you learn more here - www.kiva.org/invitedto/p2p_lenders/by/jesterPersonal thanks to - pom , Neil_P2PBlog , ablrateandy , amphoria , charles , wengyeeRelendex , alanp , @bobo , Butch Cassidy , dilbert , Duane Dibley , fp , martin44 , buttchopf23 , deddington , carol167 , xtab , wiseclerk , david42 , Steerpike , kaya , nellerdk , Sr. Lobo , metoo , rimmus , alibaba , bracknellboy , toffeeboy

I have to admit that since they altered the fee to £3 per £25 loan, I have been slowly winding my holding down.
I'm more than happy to loan to them and not receive any interest, but I object to having to pay for the privilege.

What fee? There's no fee showing up in transaction history. www.kiva.org/portfolio/transactionsI send money directly using USD, no conversion fee. So what fee for the lenders?

The donation to Kiva... which I notice is now $3.75 for every £25 loan.

The donation is entirely optional, admittedly it's automatically selected but it's a removal of a tick in a box to opt out! Definitely not a reason to have to wind down your involvement. 😁

When making the loan you can go into that section and tell them how much you want to donate to Kiva, at the bottom is the option to select to not donate anything. As Jester has said this does need doing everytime you make a loan as €$3.75 is the default donation.

Welcome to our 50th member!
By the way, I think it is good that Kiva make any donation to their running costs separate and optional, so you can just make a $25 loan and know that 100% goes to the borrower.
